@wolf480pl @cas I just assume they don't want to have to deal with a gazillion of undocumented SBCs that may only get 1 person to once push code that gets accepted, but then "orphaned" and break over time as they may not be willing to build & test every new kernel before release just to enshure it ain't broken!

It's absolute chaos and one of the reasons I didn't even try to build @OS1337 for the #Pi0W as of today...

Infosec.SpaceKevin Karhan :verified: (@kkarhan@infosec.space)@cas@treehouse.systems @wolf480pl@mstdn.io granted, the distain is mutual, given almost all #SBC & #SoC vendors refuse to do basic #documentation on how their shit works and barely release some dodgy images with custom kernel modules. - @olimex@mastodon.social and #RaspberryPi being an exception of the norm, but #Rockchip, #Allwinner and other SOCs are a real pain in the ass to support unless they are #ARMv8 with #UEFI to boot. #Apple's Hardware does have @AsahiLinux@treehouse.systems as project to care for *and* is popular enough to be *worth the hassle* for them, as it brings decent performance and battery runtime to the table...

I got my first package into #alpine today, and became package maintainer. That went surprisingly easy. Still figuring out what complex constructs Alpine can do. Like if I can do package groups as the ones from #archlinux. That would be really cool. However, going to package more #coreboot stuff soon :)

#openbsd is now running on my thinkpad x220, I put the original lenovo bios back because I needed to know if #coreboot was the issue, and it was the issue 🤣 I will spend some time with it to learn my way around, but so far wifi is working, full hd display is working (I had to use xrandr to turn the internal lvds off). I'm going to use i3 on this setup as my wm. doas is already configured for my user. Do you have tips for a openbsd newbie?

I tried upgrading to the latest version of the #system76 #coreboot firmware, but didn't fix Thunderbird.

By the way, @system76, why aren't firmware upgrades available on #LVFS?

The system76-firmware tool isn't even packaged for Fedora, so I had to build it from sources to find that my Lemur Pro was missing the 2024-02-20 update.

If you really like the principles of the #Framework laptop, but their lineup doesn’t work for you, you need bigger hardware, a GPU, cheaper options or just more customization, then I have the next best thing!

They support #Linux, #CoreBoot, they have more laptops, and pretty much the same repairability as a Framework, without the generational upgrades:

System76 Open Firmware update disables Intel Management Engine on most of the company's Linux laptops. There's also now an option to enable/disable Secure Boot and TPM2 on models with 13th-gen Intel chips and other changes. blog.system76.com/post/major-u

Hello @tuxedocomputers@linuxrocks.online, @slimbook@linuxrocks.online, @system76@fosstodon.org/@system76@pixelfed.social, @purism@social.librem.one, @novacustom@mastodon.online, @start9labs@mastodon.start9labs.com & any other companies making #PC with #Linux preinstalled roaming around on the #Fediverse, I have a seemingly stupid question for all of you:

How come, as far as I know, none of you ever made any
#2in1 #laptops, like Acer's Spin series, HP's x360 laptops, a non negligible part of Lenovo's Yoga laptops, or a growing number of Chromebook?

Because I would buy such a Laptop, especially if it used
#CoreBoot (or a distro of it) as firmware. 😉

I mean, it's not like GNU/Linux didn't have some
#DesktopEnvironment that would be great with a #touchscreen, like #Gnome, #UnityDE or #DeepinDE to name a few.)
