After a week of trying out #Cryptpad - it's no good as a #degoogle Drive replacement. The main failure is downloading lots of files will regularly skip some of them, without any visible warning (so no good at all for archiving). Lots of other more minor issues (space bloat with edits, inability to search across multiple documents, editor issues, having to import then re-open each document, etc).

I'm now trying out #NextCloud which is pretty decent so far.

I'm looking for suggestions for a #GoogleCalendar alternative - ideally needs to be able to host a calendar with which:
- I can invite people to events
- people could import it into whatever calendar software they were using
- I can share with specific people who would be able to edit it (ideally using their preferred software)

So far I've tried #Cryptpad, #NextCloud (hosted by thegood.cloud), and #Framagenda (which is also NextCloud under the hood, it turns out).

Wow, the UN adopted @CryptPad 🥳

Did you know my friends started CryptPad, and I was one of the first paying customers way back in 2017?

I couldn't be more proud of their amazing work, and to witness their iconic journey.

It was my friend @ansuz who built a lot of CryptPad, that suggested I apply to NLnet.

And then Pixelfed became the first fediverse project funded by NLnet in 2019.

You love to see it.

"As part of the UN Open Source Principles initiative, the UN has invited other organizations to support and officially endorse these principles. To collect responses, they are using #CryptPad instead of #Google Forms."

@KlausGerdGiesen

I personally use #CryptPad, but Docs has the potential for something bigger.

We need to build resilient, reliable, open-access information systems, alternatives that safeguard our collective knowledge and protect our privacy.

If you're looking to break free from major web giants,, here's a useful list of alternatives. It has been very useful during my #degoogling period.

These tech giants cannot exist without us.
