Time for an #Introduction post. I’m a #liveaboard #sailor (www.svloka.com) and full time #nomad who is also a #creative #artist. I play #guitar, #crochet, paint (#watercolor & #acrylic), and draw #penandink. I love #yoga and use #meditation to manage my #anxiety. Got #sober in 2020.

I am a recovering #softwareengineer (#programmer) and #ITmanager. I focused a lot on #leadership & effective #communication, and I still enjoy #mentoring people on those topics. I still tinker with tech on occasion.

I've just turned off my ADPList.org account. It's too bad, I *really* enjoyed mentoring there. It was the right tool for the right crowd at the right time. Unfortunately, it's just gone downhill in the last 6 months and I just can't support it.

I'm not really sure what I'll switch to. I'd like to keep mentoring but I'd still like to do it as a volunteer and every platform I've seen still wants to charge. I'm trying to give back. I might just use something like cal.com

Monday programme at #ISOQOL starting with the official opening and president's address.

The conference abstracts have been published just in time:

Today, I'll chair my last QLR board meeting and Oral Session 109 on guidelines and good practices.

For the evening #ISOQOL_NewInvestigators kindly invited me and #JPRO Rasa Ruseckaite to present on manuscript writing.

I am looking forward to meeting my 2024 mentees at the #Mentoring reception.

@climatematch 🌳 and @neuromatch 🧠
are looking for #ProfessionalDevelopment Mentors for this year's Academy!

This summer there will be four courses 😯:
Computational Neuroscience, NeuroAI, Deep Learning, and Computational Tools for Climate.

Mentors will hold a one-hour meeting every week with a small cohort of students, where they will discuss with them and help them progress in their journey in industry and academia.

This is a great opportunity to...
1. Offer expert advice to students
2. Make a difference
3. Connect with other professionals

If you are interested in being a mentor you can apply on the neuromatch website: neuromatch.io/mentoring/

*Please help us spread the word!* 📣

Sometimes an @outreachy applicant will make a contribution in a Merge Request that I cannot take, but I want to use it somewhere else in a different context.

One of the things I love about #git is that it makes it easy for me to make sure credit is appropriately assigned. I am creating patch files, rebasing and squashing commits, but I can always preserve the original author's name and git platform account in the commit log.

It is subtle, but I think it is important.

Dear Graduate student,

Are you overdue for a thesis committee meeting, but feel like you have nothing to show since your last meeting? I'm begging you to schedule that meeting now!

Either, your research is languishing and you need help! This is what your thesis commitee is for.

Or, you are doing fine and the committee is there to tell you that.

Future you will thank you.
