Esther a.k.a U039b<p>A major data privacy lawsuit has concluded. The class action against Flo Health and Meta Platforms stemmed from allegations that the Flo period-tracking app shared sensitive user health information with third parties, including Meta, without proper consent. This isn't just about privacy — it's about accountability.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/DataPrivacy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DataPrivacy</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/FloApp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FloApp</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Meta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Meta</span></a></p>
Open Risk<p>But a deep analysis of the economics, the challenges of collaborative hosting at different societal levels etc. is kinda moot.</p><p>The reason we have the current dystopia is that big <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/adtech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>adtech</span></a> managed to coopt, bribe or intimidate everybody that <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/dataprivacy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dataprivacy</span></a> does not matter. </p><p>Which is patently false and a dead-end even with the rules of current economics. You can't have a couple digital panopticons controlling the totality of society's information flows. Its an absurdity we should not rationalize.</p>
