I don't know where Braille Access is heading. I can sort of understand how the app launcher and item chooser from iOS 18 lead to this, but perhaps in the next iOS, we'll have a kind of Braille Interface mode, where an app will be formatted, with headings centered and Braille elements, like a symbol representing the element, instead of btn for button and such. Or a little less radical, a Braille view, like reading mode for websites, and books, and emails, but formatted for Braille.
Apple 2026 Public Beta Thoughts” https://heliomass.com/posts/2517-apple-2026-public-beta-thoughts/
I went the virtualisation route to try out these public betas. Results were… mixed!
iOS tip: If, while inside any app, you focus the status bar, Braille Screen Input will act as if you were on the homescreen, that is it will let you find and open any app. Great for multitasking. #Accessibility #Blind #iOS #iPhone
Gave in and installed the #iOS (well, #iPadOS) 26 public beta on my iPad mini. This is the flakiest public beta I've ever seen; I've had to hard reboot the device twice in 24 hours, a bunch of core apps (hi Photos) are crashtastic, and system performance is miserable even on this latest-generation decide. How is #Apple going to get this shippable in 9 weeks?
Your Phone Isn’t Spying on You to Show You Ads (It’s Worse Than That).
An excellent article that explains how adcetisere and data broker companies are knowing all about you without listening to your microphone.

@zachleat a few years ago I had to spend 3 months of development because #safari’s date parsing had changed between versions of #ios making our server emitted dates break…
This was the perfect illustration why flawed standards such as iso8601 are a problem. And this the reason why date parsing is a nightmare…
Just be strict. Period.
And accept that this is politically incorrect.
I'm installing iOS 26 beta 4... I heard that this has more liquid glass again and I'm nervous....!
@tinker I recently switched many of my spreadsheets to #LibreOffice and have been very happy.
I frequently work remotely on my iPad, often without Internet access in my small, rural, state of #Vermont. It took some research to figure out that #CollaboraOffice is the #iPadOS (née #iOS) & #Android version, is free, and does NOT require #CollaboraOnline account service.

Works pretty well. I think I'd struggle using it on a phone without a physical keyboard, but that's me.
Liquid Glass is Apple’s Windows Vista moment.
Shortcuts is at it again. For a completely unknown reason, an action which existed last night suddenly doesn’t exist. I’ve not even installed any OS updates.
Honest question for #iOS devs: Why is it so common that you have to manually ”restore" an in-app purchase? If there is something to check, why not do in the background automatically?
Folks kicking around the iOS and macOS 26 beta: What are the accessibility options for turning off UI transparency, and can you share with and without screenshots?
Which #authenticator app should I use on #iOS instead of #google..?!
Day 2 of Perspective AT
It’s an app that answers questions about screen readers like JAWS and VoiceOver. Runs fully on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device AI — private and fast with no cloud needed.
Works on iPhone 15 Pro+ for now. Support for older phones is coming.
5,000+ examples added today. TestFlight coming before iOS 26.

I know there are plenty of languages/vocabulary learning apps around, but are there any (I could use) for short trips? So focusing on things like ordering a beer or a coffee, asking for the bill, buying a bus ticket to somewhere, basics like “hello” and “thank you”…
Specifically looking for Hungarian and Romanian, from English or Dutch.
