Many ingredients are already here: there is a vast array of open source #python libraries that cover every imaginable #algorithm, from classic statistics to #machinelearning. And python is already a first class citizen in linux.

At the other end are end-user apps like the file manager, #libreoffice, sophisticated editors like #kate etc. that are already mature.

What is missing the orchestration of services, API's, UI's etc. that will effortlessly bring these superpowers to the average user.

Odd, #LibreOffice does not like having different scaling factors on two monitors.

I've got 1.8x scaling on my left (laptop) monitor and 1.0x on my right (HDMI). It looks like they're both getting 1.8x scaling, so everything is huge on my main (right) monitor.

I had to add QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb to the environment variables using the #KDE #Plasma menu editor to force it to run in X11 mode (XWayland), and now it's fine.

It's not the first time Germans switched to Linux and open source. In 2004 the city of Munich did that, but after 10 years and with a weak mayor, they switched partially back. The mayor wanted the office of Microshaft in "his" city.
Anyways, I do not think lobbyists will stand a chance to prevent it this time.
