I liked reading what you wrote, @markwyner. Also: I prefer #Mastodon to #X but there is one thing that X does much better than Mastodon: X lets us see what Lists other people subscribe to, and it lets anyone on X subscribe to any of those Lists. When something is in the news, I can read what people are saying on X Lists for the Supreme Court, or Iran, or the media, or Gaza, or politics, or China, or immigration, or pretty much anything else. Mastodon should add this feature. #Moderators

We have a #phishing #scam on #Mastodon. The fake-accounts (often 0 followers/followees) pose in comments as "administrators" or "support teams" of Mastodon asking for account verification. Real admins would never do that!

It's very important that you *report* them! Don't click their link

The mods of mastodon-social acted very fast to delete such an account but the scammers seem to try it now on other instances, especially smaller ones.

heads up to everyone that I got malicious mastodon spam posing as an administrator asking for account verification. it was actually caught and deleted before I could even report it!, but they'll probably be trying from other, less actively moderated instances too.

I understand that there was a recent issue with instance #moderators. I have read several articles on the subject.

What I see happening is people moving away from Fosstodon. There have also been discussions of other instances blocking Fosstodon.

I have read what @Gina has written about how she is trying to address the site's reputation, and I appreciate her efforts.

For me, I _feel_ the interaction on posts _may_ be down. Is anyone else feeling this also?

@AusSocialMods and some of the other instance mods can be inhumanly efficient sometimes. I woke up to see phone notifications informing me I had more follows from different fediverse chick bots but when I opened the app they were nowhere to be seen. Obviously someone had reported them while I was asleep and they were already dealt with by the time I looked. Thank you.

Here’s one thing we’re working on at the moment:

Lillian and Jon have been conducting a survey of moderators to help guide the production of a number of templates for moderation teams, including a moderator agreement and code of conduct.

Longer-term this will become a handbook for hands-on moderator activities.
