When I'm on the road and set up Airplay from my Mac on the random “smart” TV in the hotel/Airbnb/etc, about half the time my browsers lose the ability to play video. Searching the Internet turns up many similar problems, but not this one. Happens all the time. This just a well-known fail?

@nicklockwood @BasicAppleGuy The fact is, people working on #macOS design today at #Apple were probably were 7 years old when the first #iPhone launched. Many probably weren't even around during Tiger, not to mention Cheetah. Their interpretation of iconography is more about it just being a button than having symbolic meaning. So, instead of building on legacy, is more about implementing a change based on change sake.

The #Mac subreddits are surprisingly mad about LaunchPad being removed in #macOSTahoe. I’m bummed about it too, but some of these posts are building various replacements and workarounds. Think I saw a couple people start building full on utilities to recreate it. Guess some folks out there really liked LaunchPad.

I should have listened to others about writing on the Mac with VoiceOver and a Braille display. Microsoft Word is sluggish, adds random characters, and makes uni work a nightmare. IA Writer was the most stable of the alternatives but still sluggish, although it didn’t insert random characters. On macOS I couldn’t find a way to convert from Markdown to Word format like I can on iOS. Nisus Writer was also better than Word but still had quirks. I have to work in a document that contains all the questions, and IA Writer did a great job of converting it to Markdown. I’m now thinking of trading the Mac in for an iPad, which I know works well with Markdown and Word conversion. I love the Mac in other respects, but this one issue is a deal breaker. I’m also having problems browsing the web using Braille. I want to use the rotor like on iOS, but it won’t work at all. Even though I know there are headings on the page, I get a ding every time I try to use the rotor. #VoiceOver #BrailleDisplay #MacAccessibility #BlindTech #MacOS #MicrosoftWord #UniLife #iPadPro

For my next #Perl #blog post, should I write about:

* Util::H2O::More as an alternative to Moo for #OOP modulinos, or
* Log::Any to log to the #Apple #macOS unified logging system?

macOS: I'm trying to find a way to make the Spaces Bar at the top of Mission Control show what’s in the preview of each Space without having to move my mouse up and hover on top of the Spaces Bar. On a large iMac display it’s frustrating that it doesn’t show what’s in each Space automatically and forces me to move my mouse up there to see what’s in each Space.

Does anyone know of a way to change this default behavior?
