Except THIS is not how any of this works!....
#Trump literally lashing out against friends and neighbours will only backfire hard, and I expect @EUCommission and @europarl_en to enact #PrizeFreezes for #US #products & #services whilst forcing #Retaliatory #Tariffs on all US #products and espechally #services, demanding 100%+ in all #fees, and #revenue of #GAFAMs' services and products to the point that they'll effectively cancel half their revenue that flows back.
Not to mention cancelling any #DataProtection agreements that only stalled the foreseeable court decision that #CloudAct is incompatible with #GDPR, thus banning #Office365 / #Microsoft365, #iCloud et. al. from the EU!
Given #Trump can't be assed to even fake any #loyality or #allied status even for the cameras, this is a #ForeseeableConsequence.
Unless we want to end up #downgraded into the state of a US-occupied overseas possession without statehood, like #Guam, #PuertoRico or #AVI...
Dazu gibts frischen #kaffee ...

BTW, if you’re suffering from the iCloud Mail push notification bug on iOS 18.3 — it *appears* to be fixed in the 18.4 RC (Release Candidate).
Edit- Apple Intelligence did NOT turn back on, either! It’s a miracle!
Why would anyone in the world keep using #iCloud if the UK government would be granted a backdoor to retrieve the data of ALL USERS worldwide. What a ridiculous request. https://www.silicon.co.uk/e-regulation/surveillance/apple-to-appeal-uk-government-backdoor-order-on-friday-603825 #Security #InfoSec
UK’s secret iCloud backdoor order triggers civil rights challenge.
The UK government’s secret order to Apple demanding it backdoor the end-to-end encrypted version of its iCloud storage service is challenged by two civil rights groups, Liberty and Privacy International.
They called the order “unacceptable and disproportionate” and warned of “global consequences” as it's thought to extend to non-UK users too.
Break the silence: Save encryption!
The UK government wants to be able to access anything, anywhere, any time — from your pics to your docs.
It begins with Apple. Other services will be next. That's why we must take a stand NOW!

@zwangseinweisung Anzunehmen, ja.
Now they show up!
Apple is now fighting the UK over its demand for backdoor access to iCloud accounts
End-to-end #encryption battle continues.
#Apple appeals a United Kingdom government order to create a back door in the #iCloud storage service. As we learned last month, those pesky Brits are demanding Apple break its end-to-end encryption, also known as Advanced Data Protection (#ADP).
(We only know this because secret sources spoke to Tim Bradshaw and Lucy Fisher. Said secret sources revealed the secret complaint to the UK’s Investigatory Powers Tribunal, appealing the secret order—in secret.)
As always with attempts to break #E2EE, the math ain’t mathing. In #SBBlogwatch, we worry about dumb pols: https://securityboulevard.com/2025/03/apple-appeals-uk-adp-richixbw/?utm_source=richisoc&utm_medium=social&utm_content=richisoc&utm_campaign=richisoc
Apple is challenging UK’s iCloud encryption backdoor order.
Apple is challenging a UK Government data access order in the Investigatory Powers Tribunal (IPT). The order targeted iCloud backups that are protected by end-to-end encryption.
UK officials are exercising powers they hold via national security surveillance legislation to try to force the iPhone maker to provide data in the clear to law enforcement.

The #UK Government Forced #Apple to Remove Advanced Data Protection: What Does This Mean for You?

@gateklons @matthew_d_green #Apple needs to make transparent the risk to #iMessage users when sending something to a recipient who’s using non-#ADP #iCloud to back them up h/t @mikarv
As of Feb 21, Apple users located in the UK can no longer activate Advanced Data Protection (end-to-end encryption) for their iCloud Drive, iCloud Backup, Photos, Notes, and more.
For people in the UK, this is of course bad news and a very disappointing development. If this regional ADP block is maintained, it is a huge drawback for any Apple user's privacy rights, and a loss of data security as well.
For people outside the UK, this is a loud warning alarm. The UK government isn't the only one that has repeatedly tried to undermine encryption and privacy rights. While this might sound obvious for some authoritarian regimes, it's sadly also true for other governments considered open and democratic.
