macOS Sequoia tip:

- Click on a window's drag area
- Start dragging it
- With your mouse button still held down, press the option key.

An outline of the window will appear, tiled to part of the screen. Let go, and the window will jump to that new, tiled, position.

- Click the drag area again and the window jumps back to the original shape.

Good to know!

Is there a MacOS GUI tool that's good for comparing hard drives to find out which files on one or the other are unique?

I've got hard drives where they're substantially the same (backups), but there are enough unique files (not just unique versions but unique files) that I just need help finding those faster so I know what I have and what I can erase and re-dedicate. #MacOS #AskFedi

Then i used dfontSplitter to crack that file and extract the bitmaps as .bdf files.

THEN I used FontLab 8 to export the .bdf as .ttf

A final step to make them web-ready was to run the .ttf files through transfonter(dot)org.

Classic Mac OS Bitmap-to-TTF Workflow Update:

I stumbled upon a way to do a very specific kind of conversion that is only possible because I have an iMac G4 with both Mac OS 9.2 and OS X 10.4.11 installed on it

From OS X, I opened the Fonts folder inside the OS 9 System folder. I dragged a font file (which is a hybrid of bitmaps and .ttf files and THIS IS KEY) on to USB stick.

(Because this is a slightly more modern file than a Suitcase, the resource fork doesn't get stripped in the move.) #marchintosh #retrocomputing #macos 1/2

Today on AppAddict - MyApplications - An App for App Lovers - For the avid app collector there are a few tools available to help catalog and curate the assortment of programs that accumulate over time. You can use Apple's built in system report to get comprehensive information but it's rather dense and not illustrated. You can use an app like Apparency,... - appaddict.app/post/myapplicati - #Mac #macOS #Apple #AppAddict

@briankrebs are you by any chance acquainted with the biggest productivity boost an OS update has given me since MultiFinder in System 6.0.5(?): #StageManager?

i use cmd+` all the time to cycle windows in foreground app. but can pluck individual ones from the sidebar? i also use a layer on my keyboard for cycling tabs/panes/windows with two keys.

many people like some window management type tools for #macOS (also in comments) there's at least a couple included in a #SetApp subscription, too!

macOS folks – I’m using the Mail app with a bunch of rules to filter my newsletters, etc. into mailboxes so the important stuff from people I know doesn't get lost in the avalanche.

Every time I add an address to a rule, I get the dialog below. It doesn't seem to do anything. There's already a mailbox selected, in fact the message that the newly-edited rule applies to is selected as well, but the clicking “Apply” doesn’t do anything at all.

I still have to get the rule to apply to the mailbox by invoking the Apply Rules command in the Message menu.

Am I missing something, or is this another example of an Apple QC fail?
