"#JamieZawinski has #repeatedly said:

Now hear me out, but What If…? #browser #development was in the hands of some kind of #nonprofit #organization?

In my #humble but #correct #opinion, #Mozilla should be doing two things and two things only:

#Building THE #reference #implementation #WebBrowser and
Being a jugular-#snapping #attack #dog on #standards #committees.
There is no 3."
"Perhaps this is the only #viable #resolution."

"#Mozilla, for all its many #failings, has #invented a lot of #amazing #tech, from #Rust to #Servo to the #leading #budget #phone #OS. It shouldn't be trying to #capitalize on this #stuff. Maybe 3encourage it to have semi-independent #spinoffs, such as #Thunderbird, and as #KaiOS ought to be, and as #Rust could have been."
"But #JamieZawinski has the only #clear #vision and #solution we've seen yet. Perhaps he's #right, and #Mozilla #should be a #nonprofit, #working to #fund the one #independent, non-#vendor-driven, #standardscompliant #browserEngine."

It's funny, the more you read about modern building materials, especially insulation, the more you learn that what was fantastically The Absolute Best 20 years ago is now a known cause of cancer that devalues your house while poisoning you until you tackle the dangerous work of removing it again.

And then installing The New Absolute Best instead! Guaranteed* safe!

If you're lucky, the cancer was only a problem for the workers (rock-/glasswool) or firefighters in case it should burn (styrofoam, PU foam). Not the residents.

But you're not always so lucky, as with the two component spray foams and chipboard that keeps gassing out and giving you mystery headaches.

"As one of the largest no-gas developments in the region, Abbey Central features air source heat pumps, solar PV panels, and EV charging points throughout. Some homes are achieving up to 80% reductions in CO₂ emissions and energy use compared to current building regulations—far surpassing the industry benchmark of 19%"

Shows what can be achieved when the local council insists on green standards.

There's something unique in the lobby of this apartment tower: It had the ruins of one of the oldest European structures in Australia.

While digging the foundations for the building, which is on the corner of Marsden & Macquarie Streets in the middle of Parramatta, the developers stumbled across an old convict hut, potentially dating back to 1789.

After a lot of back-and-forth over planning and heritage, the building was redesigned so the public could access the site.

In another strange twist, the exhibit was renamed the Philip Ruddock Heritage Centre. You really can't make this up!

(For people reading this overseas: Ruddock was Australia's extremely right wing immigration minister in the 1990s. Many of Trump's immigration policies, such as the mandatory detention of non-citizens and deportation of undocumented non-citizens to third countries, were policies he implemented in Australia in the '90s.)

I'm not sure if the name is supposed to be ironic?

The ruin is free to look at and accessible from the street. Worth a trip if you're in the neighbourhood.
