fullfathomfiveWe need to do better for people with dementia in this country. Police officers need to be properly taught about dementia and trained in safe de-escalation. Care homes need to be adequately staffed. Care homes also need to be designed to improve safety, quality of life, independence, and comfort for people with dementia. Anyone who treats a person with dementia with utter contempt, like Kristian White did, needs to be held to account.These interventions are not hard. They are all well studied and to proven to be effective, but there's no political will to do it. We don't care about people with dementia. Many Australians don't even think of them as people.
