About time I posted something new: A perfect illusion of summer bliss.
The border in the foreground is problematic: What I plant does not do particularly well and what I think should not be there is thriving. Just as well that I have learned not to argue with nature: It is beautiful, it’s natural and I could not have planned (and planted) it better.

Someone needs to tell the writer that docks are good for fertilising plants through chop-and-drop, composting or weed tea. Those big ol' tap roots get to nutrients other plants can't reach deep in the ground and bring it to the surface into their leaves (the same as why comfrey is useful).
But glad to see couch grass (my nemisis) getting the hate it deserves #allotment #gardening #weeds
In boring news, used a post-hole digger to make a new 24-inch weed morgue. It's a space-efficient way to compost on sites where there's no room for a normal pile. I keep the tool available for everyone to use so hopefully fewer gardeners will feel the need to put weeds into the trash (which they do). #GrowYourOwn #allotment #garden #gardening #weeds #weeding #compost #composting
The #horse pasture is a testament to #mowing #weeds (specifically hairy aster) instead of spraying. I've mowed & spread muck #muckspreading for 3 years in here & it has completely turned over! It's now a mix of grasses & clovers. I just cannot believe it! I mean, I know it works, but it's stunning when you walk it & remember how bad it was in the beginning. (It was a monoculture of hairy aster.) It's healthy now!
Also very carefully managing it with #PulseGrazing. #CatsOfMastodon
In small victories at the community garden, one of the guys who always uses black plastic has now adopted cardboard and mulch. Looks like several others are doing same. I'm going to credit all my annoying, passive-aggressive comments on garden's Facebook page. #CommunityGarden #GrowYourOwn #plastic #cardboard #mulch #garden #allotment #weeds
Biodiversity under the wheels near Repton
"ANGELA Wallace is one of many people upset about the number of koalas being killed on local roads....Little has been done to mitigate these deaths, with another koala recently killed near Repton. “No wonder our iconic koala (dunggirr) is endangered with our roads as ‘killing zones’, deforestation [causing a] loss of habitat, and them trying to survive extreme weather events such as fires and floods.”
"She pointed out that where the koala died, the wildlife fence nearby was thickly overgrown with lantana and a nearby underpass was almost impenetrable due to a mass of lantana."
If an injured, sick or orphaned native animal is found, WIRES can be contacted on 1300 094 737.

Are there any #herbicides that are safe for #waterways and #bees? I’ve got a large area to deal with and looking to not have to pull them. #weeds
