LaurenSomeone needs to tell the writer that docks are good for fertilising plants through chop-and-drop, composting or weed tea. Those big ol' tap roots get to nutrients other plants can't reach deep in the ground and bring it to the surface into their leaves (the same as why comfrey is useful). Colin PurringtonIn boring news, used a post-hole digger to make a new 24-inch weed morgue. It's a space-efficient way to compost on sites where there's no room for a normal pile. It's now a mix of grasses & clovers. I just cannot believe it! 🤯 I mean, I know it works, but it's stunning when you walk it & remember how bad it was in the beginning. (It was a monoculture of hairy aster.) Colin PurringtonJapanese knotweed (Reynoutria japonica) in a field of lesser celandine (Ficaria verna). I'm in Pennsylvania where they were originally introduced in 1800s, both as ornamentals. The Japanese knotweed was also planted for erosion control.
