vga256for those who don't know about the parliament hill cat colony in canada, i got to visit it on a work trip to Ottawa in the spring of 2004.you would never know it was there, unless you specifically went looking for it, tucked away around the corner of the massive parliament buildings.this is the (2nd) keeper of the cat colony - René Chartrand. at the time there were a few dozen cats, all dozing in the sun and cleaning quietly.René would sit at his workbench, talk to the cats, as well as any curious onlookers that happened by the colony. i was fortunate to visit when he was there, and took this snapshot.René passed away in 2014, but had several other keepers helping him look after the cats. the colony closed in 2013, and Coal - a black short haired cat - was the last of the colony, and was adopted out to his owner when it closed. he died today.canada is a harsher place without the cats of the hill.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parliament_Hill_cat_colony" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parliament_Hill_cat_colony</a><a href="https://dialup.cafe/tags/canada" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#canada</a> <a href="https://dialup.cafe/tags/CatsOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#CatsOfMastodon</a>
