To me it's just that #ThinkPad as a brand has really died as every single Device is a #downgrade in #repairability & #upgradeability compared to my #X230Tablet:

• They have #SolderedDownRAM even on P-Series #Workstation machines, not just cheap cheap #Lenovo consoomer devices.

• Batteries ain't toolfree-swappable anymore!

• #WWAN modules are worse (i.e. #Fibocom #850GL aka. #Intel #XMM7360)

• #Linux support gets worse and neither Lenovo nor @ubuntu feel responsible on a "#Ubuntu-certified Workstation" (i.e. #P15v)

• Less & Worse #Docking options.

• Most machines don't offer Linux or to eveb to opt-out of #Govware noone should pay their overcharged premium for (in fact #Microsoft pays Lenovo $25 for every #Windows #preinstall so they don't ship Linux, they don't even pay the $10 for an #OEM-#UEFI-Key, much less the $135+ of a #SystemBuilder version they charge for!)

• ...

Personally, I wish I had €.€€€.€€€ so I could just develop the #NUCbook and be done with the #Enshittification of #Laptops / #Notebooks!

• I seriously wished #Canonical (and other Distos) had some Customizer tool for #OEMs and #SystemBuilders / #SystemIntegrators similar to #nLite / #vLite back in the days to provide a good #OOBE [ #OutOfBoxExperience ] for #Linux Desktop novices beyond having #drivers and some additional #Software preinstalled....

Alas I should look at my own #postinstall tool and get it up to snuff...

@killyourfm If we could have people working on OEM setups for installers, that would help a lot.

I really hope that Fedora's next installer has been working with that scenario in mind.

UBlue will just use what is provided upstream, so if it is provided in Fedora, it will be provided in Bazzite.

Not to mention the way #Microsoft uses and abuses their #OEM #licensing ranging from bribing big OEMs like #Dell, #HP & #Lenovo $25 per #Windows preinstall so they don't install a #Linux distro like @ubuntu / #UbuntuLTS to denying access to their reasonably priced Volume- , OEM- & MAR-Programs who dares to offer customers a choice and doesn't force them to pay for #Windows as unwanted & forced #bundling.

IMHO @EU_Commission and other regulators need to ban this practise for beibg anti-competitive overreach and abuse of market dominance against retailers and customers!
