Finvarra Martello Tower

Built during the Napoleonic wars to protect the area against a possible attack from France. We've cleared that up now and are friends with the French again. (It was the British they were after anyways) ♥️✨

“I love my boots broke in, I love my camo hat
Don't mind a little paint on my jeans, yeah, I roll like that
I love drivin' my truck across the railroad track
If you hit it too quick, it'll hit you right back
I love a fresh cut field with a first frost on
How it shines like gold when the sun turns on
I love the sound of them wheels, my baby singin' along
When "Boys of Summer" comes on”

Months ago I wrote in my calendar that the 8th of June would be a good day for a challenge. Especialy because the day after is off and that would also open the season of longer rides during summer... And maybe just for the fun of it 😃.
I first thought about a long gravel ride (170k) but the track I found was not so attractive so I ended up with the idea of riding a 100k with at least 2000m of elevation gain. Not an easy task in a flat land like mine where the lowest point above see level is at 40m and the highest at 90...
After 8h30 I rode 98k (with 30k of hamsterbike) and climbed 2650m without going further than 30km away from home... And the first time I climbed so much in a single ride... Feel happy with that!!
Another very good time on the saddle in the fields and the forest...
