A Bunch Of Grapes

There is certainly a joy living near one of the most famous wine growing areas in the world. A trip to the vineyards is certainly one of them.
There are a number of wineries where my wife and feel like home at. I have got to know a number of wine makers over the years and have been given the opportunity to photograph a few vineyards unfettered.

A Bunch of Grapes Like the title states, this image is a capture of a bunch of grapes hanging from the grapevine. This is a closeup of the grape bunch. The grapes are ripe and real close to being ready to pick. The color of the grapes are a deep rich blue, almost purple. The bunch is tight, the grapes look very healthy. They are hanging on the vine, connected by a small branch. The green leaves of the vine frame the grapes in nice green hue. Below the grapes, framing the bottom of the image is a large older branch from the vine.

Napa Morning

I love driving up into the Napa Valley in the late fall and early spring during the early morning. The weather is cooler and the roads are less crowded. On top of that the sun is lower in the sky and seems to create excellent lighting of the vineyards.
I found this scene in the northern part of the Napa Valley just south of Calistoga.

Napa Morning This is an image of a vineyard and old out building/barn located just south of Calistoga in the beautiful Napa Valley. The image foreground consists of several rows of grapevines that run towards the back of the image to some valley oaks and the hillside behind them. The rows of vines are separated by tall unmown grass. The outbuilding has exposed wood and a corrugated tin roof. The sun is low in the sky off to the right and is shinning on the front side of the barn. The side of the barn has a few old tools and steel barrel, the use of the barrel is unknown.

I’m going to print some 2025 calendars, perhaps on multiple themes. The first I’m tackling is “Vineyard Dreams,” with artistic photos I've made in the vineyards around where I live in Germany.

For March, which do you prefer?
1. Two trees under clouds
2. Vineyard sunset
3. Almond almond cherry rose [cloud]

1. An early-season vineyard spreads across a wide hilltop, seen from afar. A silvery path rises on the slope, flanked by two leafless trees. A gentle sunset illuminates the clouds above, in soft yellow, pink, and blue.
2. Dirt paths cuts into the grass between groups of vineyards. Steel rails at the end of rows catch the evening light. A very dramatic and colorful sunset glows in the sky above, in oranges, pinks, and lavender-blue.
3. Wide view of barren vineyards under a beautiful sky. A path leads up the vineyard hillside, lined with almond and cherry trees. The lower sky is obscured with blue and gray clouds, while a rose-like burst of color blossoms in the upper sky. All three of these photos were taken the same evening!
