Two shelves of the front bookcase vacuumed, books sorted and replaced, and I am DONE. Yet again I have overestimated how much I can do in a day. You’d think after all these years of multiple chronic illnesses I would manage better than this but oops…

Vacuum cleaner staying where it is.

Taking the rest of the day off from anything heavy. Ot medium. Or light, really. Might draw, if I can hold a pen.

Whoops. Celebrating getting the two shelves done though! And found another few books to donate. Every one that leaves is a win.

“You might want them later, dear,” says my Mum - and THIS, this is what I’m fighting against. Family hoarding tendencies. I can’t keep Every. Damn. Thing.

Good morning tooters. It’s nearly 14c & we had a warm 11c night, today it’s getting to 18c with rain all day. Welcome rain for here I might add. The rain started early yesterday evening & has been steady ever since giving the dry ground a thorough wetting. I checked that the water tank is draining properly as it overflows easily & can be a real pain.
Yesterday was a *blah* day for me, although I got a fair bit of clearing out done of things I don’t use & don’t need. Op shop deliveries today, I rang a few yesterday to see who takes electricals. Not sure what to do with the two old carpets stored in the garage - any ideas?
I spoke to my niece again yesterday evening, she knew I’d been upset not just about her Dad, my brother, but also about my sister who I see each week. If I had to analyse it, it feels like I’m losing these two siblings by slow degrees. It was a good chat & I’m feeling better today. Very heavy sleep last night though.
On another note, I decided to make a half recipe for cheese scones to have with my soup for dinner last night. Except I added a full recipe worth of milk 😬🥴🤦🏼‍♀️. So I added more flour, melted a bit more butter & hoped for the best. I made a kind of scone/cake cheesy damper thing 😂 - tasty though.
Have a great #Friday people. Stay safe out there, especially if you’re around the flood zones. Take care 🌻.

Good morning tooters. It was apparently -2c this morning, but I don’t think it felt like it. At the moment it’s about 6c & heading up to 21, with rain forecast later today & the sky does look quite moody.
I would quite like to go for a walk this morning & I think the rain will hold off, I can’t see anything on the radar anyway. Not that that’s always accurate.
I am slowly going through different cupboards, moving things, getting rid of the unused. The old bread maker has been pulled out & put in the garage for delivery to an op shop or the recycle shop. I’ll ring them later today to see what they take. I moved a small, very narrow bookcase into the laundry for use in there. It’s all quite satisfying changing things & decluttering.
I hope everyone has a wonderful #Wednesday. Stay safe out there 🌻 #HumpDay. #Weather #Exercise #Decluttering

Uh-oh: "Barbara Mednick’s late husband kept all the boxes to the electronics he was fond of tucked away in the basement of their home."

Think I'm gonna spend some time in the basement today. Good advice here in the Minneapolis paper this morning.

Today I decluttered two comforter sets, several blankets, duvets, small odds and ends, and fixed some little things that have needed it.

I also bought (from #wayfair) a backing for an antique rug that had just been sitting on the piano. That's another loose end I've been able to tie up today. It helps me feel in control despite so many things being broken (like the fucking washing machine).

Today I got so mad at a string light curtain that I threw it out. That's been happening a lot lately. It will probably happen a lot more, so I'm making a hashtag.

I also got mad enough to declutter a bunch of clothing. That felt good. I wish I could be this ruthless without being so angry, but I guess I'll take what I can get for now.

I only have a little bit more work to do in my closet before it's where I want it. That's huge for me.

In the midst of a big #decluttering process lately!

Every time we make a trip to a thrift store drop-off, we immediately find more stuff to unload an hour after we get home.

The garbage dump similarly. I managed to take a big load of old wood and pond bits but forgot to bring the stack of old carpet that served as pond-liner cushioning for the last 20yrs. Sigh.

Currently reading "The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning: How to free yourself and your family from a lifetime of clutter" and it's reminding me of how my sister organised her possessions before she died in 2005, and what a wonderful gift that was for executors and family. Her treasures went to loved ones with reasons why. "You gave me this, I loved using it, I want you to have it," or "This scarf always reminds me of you." #decluttering #FixingMyLifeOneStepAtATime

Arvo, Toots! Very slow day today. I deffo did too much yesterday, and between an allergy flare and some PEM (post exertional meh!) I didn’t make it out of bed until well after lunchtime. I’ve got as far as cleaning this tin and testing the contents, and finding some blank cards and collage materials from one box to make a Father’s Day card later. Glad there are leftovers for tea.

Evening, Toots. Well, I have laboured mightily this arvo, and I can see one end of the sewing room. I’m still playing Tetris with some of the tubs of books and fabrics, and oh my dog, why do I own so many sewing tools, sewing patterns, and art materials? Also still dealing with the Great EnMousening (bloody 🐁 ☠️ 🤢) and years of not dusting - yes, it’s been a while since I’ve been well enough or motivated to get into that room. But needs must, so Onwards! #Decluttering #AuADHD
