Shouldn't post this, will likely delete later. Got my not-typical brain formally assessed but the NP said because it's complicated she's not qualified to offer any help.
Not remotely surprised, tbh. It's the theme of a lifetime.
The system here is beyond broken, so finding someone who can tease everything apart and offer real, thoughtful, minimally biased support is next to zero.
I really wish I wasn't dealing with this in the horror show of 2025.
Meanwhile, a living must be made, because there's a cat who is absolutely everything.
Don’t be afraid to choose a different path than the one that others would have you choose. It may be difficult to not have a clear path to follow, but you might just be blazing a path that others would love to follow.
Not long ago I complained about how executive dysfunction regularly makes my life worse.
Now, the other thing my #AuDHD brain tends to do is over-commitment.
Can you imagine how these to become a terrible duo? Promising too many things and then sometimes not even able to start those?
*screaming into the void*
"nycki, what do your adhd meds actually do?"
okay have you ever had one of those wobbly cables that you have to plug in a few times before it starts charging your phone
"yeah?"
imagine if it worked the first time.
Today I was reminded that I'd auto-published a new post up on my blog yesterday! (Yesterday was a full week ago so it's a miracle I'm even noticing this thing already.)
It's a letter to a friend about snow, but not really about snow. I think we've all endured a heavy snowfall, and it's not looking up anytime soon.
May you be well. <3

Emergent Divergence: Should ADHD Be Part Of The Autism Spectrum?
Autism is associated with a wide array of co-occurring conditions. In fact, it is widely discussed that Autistic people have "all the things", meaning that we are prone to conditions that are otherwise considered rare or in some cases problematic.

I mean, this is funny.. but also I spent my therapy session last week talking about how I think WW3 has already started.. so...
Also finding a psychologist who deals with me as an Aboriginal person living under settler colonialism has been ground breaking for my mental health. Definitely recommend.
I’m officially AUDHD adhd combined and autistic as fuck
#AuDHD
I think I said this at the time, but this is why I don’t see #AuDHD hyperfocus as a superpower. Ruinous state to get locked into. I might get enough done in a chill way if I was neurotypical and also sleep better, relax more out of my back problem, make and keep friends, drive a car, hold a job. All the things! I have tried to stop listing the deficits, it’s depressing.
If you missed my free public workshop about telling people you're autistic, the recording and transcript are now available for everyone:

...we don't know very much today! But yes, back in the 70s, and before, our attitudes were ... shamefully primitive.
If I had been diagnosed #AuDHD in the 50s, when I was born, I would've been put quietly away in an institution, and never seen in normal society. I would have been 'disappeared'.

'I am' and 'have' changes how we relate (and what makes grammatical sense) to our autism/neurodivergent/ADHD like:
I am autistic
I have autism
I'm ADHD
I have ADHD
I am neurodivergent
I have neurodivergent
Or
I'm AuDHD
I have AuDHD
