#WritingCommunity - is it ever okay to give up on a Writing In Progress #WIP?

Should #writers always finish a project, even if they're not feeling it anymore? Or does this just result in accumulating a collection of unfinished stories?

#Boosts appreciated - hoping to write an article about it on my #blog

Well #Mastodon I’ve been thinking about this and I have been considering my types of #boosts. Which do you use most (you should be able to vote for more than one) and if you want to comment on why (or any other sporadic or entertaining thoughts) please do. #PleaseBoost (obv)

🚨PSA for #trans people: important information regarding applying for asylum in Canada - there is a ton of misinformation flying around. Please watch this first before making any applications. #Canada #asylum #boosts appreciated, thanks.

Does anyone here have experience with the #azure cognitive services #api in the browser client? I'm getting an unexplainable #websocket error 1006 that's only happening to my user in certain circumstances, and the reason is `undefined`

I'm confident it's not a bad key, because the same code and deployment works for another user.

#boosts welcome, #help please! This is for a #FOSS accessibility project.

These late nineteenth century posters have just been revealed during renovations at the Coach & Horses pub in Stoke Newington, but can anyone guess the missing words in the older signwritten letters beneath?

#Boosts appreciated; more photos here: drive.google.com/drive/folders

Posters printed by Bowles & Pope, who were at 76 & 47 Leadenhall St in the 1880s/early 1890s. The proprietor of the pub at that time was John Jones.

Hey mastodon #Android users, can you help me get my app published to the play store? I need to have at least 12 testers with the app installed on a device for at least 14 days. It's based on a #LonelyIsland pitch, there's no data mining or ads, and it's entirely a joke.

#boosts welcome

You can see the web version at the link below:

I've opened up pre-orders for Issue 07 of BLAG (Better Letters Magazine): shop.bl.ag.

The aim is to fund a few extra things that I want to include in the issue: bl.ag/07.

#Boosts are appreciated; thank you for supporting my independent, advertising-free publication.

PS. Even better than pre-ordering is joining BLAG with the fediverse special offer and getting Issue 06 right away, followed by Issues 07 and 08: bl.ag/md20.

#askfedi Good people: We all dislike #LLM (so-called #AI) heartily. Is there anything a lowly single-user #Mastodon admin can do to deter or at least disencourage the pest, without too much effort or CPU power? All suggestions and #boosts welcome.

Note: I don't object to any of the current ways of hindering or even destroying LLMs, but I don't have a lot of computing resources to spare. I just want ChatGPT etc. off here.

Is there a way in (Glitch-flavoured) Mastodon to hide all boosts from my timeline?

I do follow a few people whose boosts are actually interesting (and not overdone), but the vast majority of boosts are just spam clogging my timeline, and I'm getting tired of hiding boosts from one user at a time.

(Also, fellow fedizens, please stop overboosting. A boost is not a "like.")

I just boosted some of the vids that I made for Loops. I uploaded them to PeerTube as well, just in case...

The boosts said that there was no Alt text available, but it was the preview of the vid that PeerTube included in the Toot, and I don't know how to get Alt text go the preview... So sorry about that!

The title does explain a little about the topic of the very short vids.

If you follow me on Loops, you may have seen the vids already. 😊

They're just little trials of me playing with some templates that the YouCut video app offered...

#PeerTube #Loops #Boosts :boosts_ok_gay:

Pro tip: if you follow hashtags like #knitting or #puppies instead of following accounts, you don't get spammed with people's random boosts and won't be forced to read about Linux (unless you choose to follow #linux, of course 🙂).

You can also hide boosts from the accounts you do follow, which can significantly improve the signal:noise ratio of your feed.

EDITED

Suppose A follows X and Y, while B only follows X but not Y.

Suppose Y posts toot T, and X posts two replies to T, R1 with visibility set to "unlisted", R2 with visibility set to "public".

Then A's timeline shows T and R2, and B's timeline shows none of these.

A's timeline ALSO shows R1: I don't know why?

John Mastodon's advice remains right: boost your own replies for sharing: if X boosts R1 and R2, both show in the timelines of A and B.

When you boost an older post, say, a few days/weeks+ old, how do you typically find it?

(Maybe pick the top two or three?)
