@ingalls Most government web maps that display GIS data use ESRI software. That software makes a zillion calls to the ArcGIS server in order to do anything. Think 'bloatware'.

Below is a link to the 'lightweight' Leaflet web map I produce that displays the same data - in this case, all the weather watches and warnings.

Open the map, click colored area, follow the link. Since the spot you clicked might have more than one type of weather watch/warning, scroll down in the popup since each type of watch or warning has its own link for the details.

At the risk of tooting my own horn, GISsurfer has lots of features that are not apparent just by looking at the map. For both video and PDF tutorials see:

LOL, threw my #gis students in the deep end of the pool. "Figure out how to do this in ArcGIS Pro... you'll have to look it up" 🤪

(only went middling well, had to help them along and didn't get them all the way there, but they DID learn a lot trying to figure things out themselves rather than just following instructions...)

Sigh. Tough post. #Fedihired

So I found that #DOGE is currently in the org I work at. Ive confirmed from 2 colleagues. They're going after contractors first, since we have mostly no protections.

I've been looking since Nov 6, but now things are getting down to the wire.

I'm a senior cloud systems engineer. Current is administering/developing #ArcGIS #GIS . Previously was systems engineer with greenfielding and putting together multiple ATO's. Before that, was systems engineer at a NOC.

I highly prefer #remote but can travel 60 miles around #bloomingtonIN

@GottaLaff Here is more info about the EPA’s Environmental Justice Screening and Mapping team.

That EPA team has a large amount of #geospatial data hosted on an #ArcGIS server at
ejscreen.epa.gov/arcgis/rest/s

That team also has a website at epa.gov/ejscreen

Yesterday I noticed that both of those servers are now offline. I noticed that those federal servers are no longer available to the public because I volunteer to curate a list of USA government ArcGIS server addresses from federal to local and post weekly updates via a PDF file at:

Hi all, I work in #NatureRecovery and #WildlifeConservation and have set this up as a semi-professional account to chat about #GIS (using #ArcGIS and #QGIS), #drones / #UAV for surveys, and generally tech in nature monitoring. I'm based in south west Wales and I also like looking at actual live animals instead of through a screen, and being outside generally. (I say, as I spend a huge amount of my time indoors on the computer). #Introduction #Introductions

I went and did a Solstice survey, but now I can't get the data off the data collection device. Worried I may have accidentally deleted it and will need to do another survey. I worried about this last time I did a survey and it wasn't the case, but I can't help freaking out a bit. Especially since the guy who helped me last time is out in the field right now. /grump

Got search?

Followers here likely know that I curated an #ArcGIS server list with 3,000+ addresses.
mappingsupport.com/p/surf_gis/

Another volunteer has produced a project which uses that ArcGIS server list as input and lets you do keyword searches across those servers. Very cool! He is doing active development on this so expect to see more features. blog.gisdata.io/
