@Natanox @djvdq I do agree in that regard as in that a lot of #FLOSS doesn't do good #UI & #UX but I've yet to see an issue that wasn't already covered well-enough (even for #GnuPG / #GPG there's #Kleopatra as a nice #GUI!) to the point that even on #Windows or #macOS you'd have to use a #CLI tool for that...

In fact, they don't give a s**t about tje underlying OS. Most don't even care if they use #Firefox or #Chrome and #Google or #DuckDuckGo.

  • All they want is get shit done! And these.folks are eadily helped with a hands-on on a good #Linux dostro and maybe preinstalling some #RemoteSupport tool like #Dayon where one can help them if there ever was a need to do anything...

@bigTanuki @BillySmith I'm convinced @frameworkcomputer uses #GoogleForms not as a sole tool, but merely #ingress pipeline for their #support workflows, so there is like demand to design a whole workflow and architecture from the ground up to handle and process supoort queries.

Maybe someone will enhineer somethibg aroubd #Gitlab or #Girea's #issue #Ticketing system?

I am however shure something like a customer chat can be done with like #Zulip and for #RemoteDesktop-based #TechSupport there's an excellent tool called "#Dayon!" which is super easy to use for the support-requesting side, doesn't rely on centralized services being available and only needs a few settings by the supporter to get up and running...

  • If I were running my own company, I'd propably sponsor the development of Dayon to the same amount as it would cost to pay for AnyDesk instead!

@Melissabeartrix @jackyan @stevendbrewer OFC there are countless options.

Were it not for your mother but like a child, I'd consider pointing at #RaspberryPiOS or for gamers to #pop_OS, for some really old machine I'd point at #BunsenLabsLinux and #TinyCore or for some "Guest Computer" I'd recommend #PorteusKiosk...

  • I stick with #UbuntuLTS for the most part because it's convenient, gets 5 years free updates after release and also has a big, beginner-friendly community and likely gets support by 3rd parties when it comes to commercial software...

But my priorities may not he yours so it's good to have options on the table.

  • #Dayon is just convenient because it doesn't require some central service to be up but just the supporting person to have like a (dynamic) DNS or static IP configured as it acts like a "Reverse-VNC-Server" and is very user-friendly on the "Assisted" side of things by just asking for IP/domain & port to connect to.
