"a riot is the language of the unheard"
-- #MartinLutherKingJr

Remove free speech and peaceful means to effect change in government and you invite violence, since it is the only effective means left.

I am not a blind pacifist. I condemn violence when other means are available.

But if the status quo is unjust, and there are no other means to change things, violence becomes justified.

This is why you should NEVER suppress free speech or suppress protests.

In 1968, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and many others called for a “revolution of values” in America. They sought to build a broad, fusion movement that could unite poor and impacted communities across the country. Their name was a direct cry from the underside of history: The Poor People’s Campaign. Today, the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival has picked up this unfinished work. Join us!

Except... he didn't actually declassify anything. it just requires the Director of National Intelligence and Attorney General to offer a "plan" within 45 days.

Also no mention of declassifying anything about Trump's bestie for 10 years, #JeffreyEpstein (shocker).

#MLKDay at King’s Atlanta congregation features daughter’s warning about #AntWoke rhetoric and “DEMOCRACY.”

January 20, 2025

“We are living in a time when anti-woke rhetoric has become a weapon to divide us and distract us from the real issues of injustice. To be woke is to be aware of oppression and commitment to justice,” - Rev. Bernice King.

It is important to remember that a-#MartinLutherKingJr had a 75% disapproval rating in the last year of his life. High approval ratings don’t mean you are right, and low approval ratings don’t mean you are wrong. The true measure of a person is whether they are willing to do what is right and just even if it is unpopular and even if it does not serve one’s personal self-interest. This is why I celebrated King today and not the other guy.

Remembering Martin Luther King Jr. as an 'organizer of the people' —

Scholars Tressie McMillan Cottom and Eddie Glaude speak with Tonya Mosley and reflect on the struggle for civil rights and what it means to celebrate King on the same day that trump is sworn into office as President again
