@johnlogic @brettm @libreoffice Linux has gained share, from 0,1% to almost 2%, and is likely growing exponentially as more and more "#TechIlliterates" and "#Normies" get to like it...

@vetgaming @linuxmint It's just a necessity, according to @fuchsiii, as it's just not feasible longterm to collect rarer-and-rarer #VintageComputing hardware and rely on non-enforcement of copyright on #Abandonware.

  • Plus whilst #Valve isn't antragonistic to #Proton / #DXVK repackagings, not relying on them is kinda important, as this setup also helps with otger applications that ain't strictly games or in setups that one may not want to be on the internet.

It makes #TheSims and #FightingIsMagic just work on anything that is #amd64 and has enough resources to throw at it.

Since @fuchsiii constantly had these "Great, what broke now?" - moments when #debugging and working on making #RetroGames from 1995-2005 just work in #Wine, I decided to start making a nifty little tool so it's easy to verify differences between "known to work" and broken systems and thus triage the issue aka. find out who to yell at in forums and bugtrackers!...

  • Feedback and contributions are appreciated!

After all unfck is meant to help people #unfck the problem!

In terms of #Desktop #Apps I disagree:

As for #collaboration tools, I think that @nextcloud and @CollaboraOffice are the way better options than #Office365 and those ain't the only ones on the market either (see #openXchange and other suites)...

  • Like I'd subscribe to @monocles or @Stuxhost any day for that and I'm shure both are receptive to organization-based subscribers...

And unless you want to make printable stuff, #git and fancy frontends like #gitlab and #gitea exist that make it easy to collaboratetively edit #markdown to the point that it's my go-to solution.

In the end my observation is that most people don't switch because either it's not painful enough and/or they just don't know better and think that #computing must suck as a fact of life!
