I've been learning me some #blues #guitar

I was never very good at guitar in the past, but I used to play piano and write my own music exclusively. No idea how to play other people's stuff.

I decided to try guitar again cuz I can't really carry a piano around, wanted flexibility.

I've been watching YouTube tutorials, and finding 3/4 time is actually AMAZING for some blues. Used to be my favorite piano time signature.

I got some LUNGS too.

You may see a song from me soon!

Performed in an amazing #concert for #ImmigrantJustice last night, with the proceeds going to an organization that supports refugees new to the area. The one song I thought Jo's service dog would freak at, she handeled pretty darn well. I had to use my cane throughout the concert, which was a new experience for me, but it helped a lot. I get to sing with the group again come April 6, when we'll be singing for a service with a visiting speaker, so that will be an awesome close-out on this chapter of my experience with #JusticeChoir of the Midwest, and then at some point we'll be doing an LGBT justice concert for the fall. There's also hopefully going to be an LGBT+ choir meeting in May to perform for Pride in June, and I'm hopeful to get involved with that.
I am tired today, but it was so entirely worth it that while I know I need to rest, I have a damn good reason, which makes that easier. I plan to spend the day probably listening to some Star Trek episodes, maybe just sitting in stillness a bit, basically just generally taking it easy.

ProfDJ's killer cuts for your streaming shuffle, No.77

The Persuasions. He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother/You Got a Friend

The Persuasions acapella mash-up of the Hollies hit & a classic Carole King song is a lovely bit of singing & phrasing, showing you can swing without instruments. It'll be a fab little pause in your shuffle; sit back and enjoy the vocal dexterity. Of course, there's a clear link back to gospel, and that's what gives the performance its power.

Some say that Eddie Vedder of #PearlJam and Scott Stapp of #Creed had this way of #singing back in the 90s that had a district sound. So much that the term "yarling" was coined to describe it. For years, these two seem to have been the only ones who yarled. But there was another.

Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish also sang like this. The tone and rhyme of how he sang was similar to Vedder and Stapp. That's why I think he should be included with them. #Music

Peace, a beautiful Horace Silver tune. He wrote the melody as well as the lyrics.

I can really relate to this song. The beautiful harmony and the way he connects peace with nature, it makes a lot of sense to me 🍀🍀🍀

On my way to #Leiden for a #MatthewPassion, then after that straight to #Amersfoort for a soloist job in #Rossini 's #PetiteMesseSolennelle. The conductor couldn't get over how vulgar that latter one is... Which is true. But it's also just really nice music, to sing and to listen to.

My #Brompton is decked out for the journey—food and clothing and sheet music in the front basket, my suit on the back. The suitcase is a really nifty design by #Lat_56. On some days I can get away with just the suitcase, but not today.
