The pre-Easter route to the south is kind of planned, the post-Easter route back to the north is still open. This time I will start bicycling in Berlin and work my way to Nuremberg in Bavaria. kc posch<p>Yesterday, I visited the Mauthausen Memorial. KZ Mauthausen was a Nazi concentration camp. This being my third visit, I had to give up after an hour; I was unable to continue thinking about the unthinkable that happened there. Just one good thought: In the museum, they show the bicycle of the survivor Stanislaw Kudlinski. It was given to him by nuns in Linz after the liberation, on which he set off for his hometown in Poland. kc posch<p>I bicycled through the famous Wachau Valley yesterday. Vinyards dominate the landscape, although in early March, they are still in winter mode. Everywhere, you can still see the remnants of last fall's flooding after heavy rainfalls. In contrast, now it appears to be too dry. So much about seasons and climate. onedayfishsale<p>I'm just back from a short winter vacation. I took my <a href="https://social.feep.org/tags/Brompton" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Brompton</span></a> along and covered about 200 miles over three days. This included starting and ending at an airport, carrying everything I needed with me.</p><p>Mostly for my own recollection later, here are some observations on longer rides on a Brompton.</p><p>1/</p>
kc posch<p>Hamburg Central Station in the morning. Two different trains leaving for Vienna, Austria, within three minutes. Lots of confusion among nervous passengers not knowing which one to get on to. Finally found my reserved place in the middle of a whole bunch of school kids. kc posch<p>I'm done with winter in Stockholm. Tomorrow early morning I'll start train-bicycling southwards to warmer places. First stops will be Copenhagen, Hamburg, and then Graz in Austria. And from there the weather will guide my choices.
