Grandfather Ridiculous was a #NewYorkCity-based group formed at the New School in Manhattan in 2000, using live #acoustic instrumentation, #beatbox, and #sampler along with the chillest vocals this side of #DigablePlanets. They played live in clubs around the northeast US; the tracks on his ep, their sole recorded output, are studio recordings of fan favorites from the gigs.
Oh, and that *other* hip hop ‘message’ track? Yeah, I remember hearing that for the first time and literally sitting up to take notice, eyes wide, as the thought struck me: “Oh THIS is what #rap music is for!”
