Since Dovecot 2.4 is dropping replication, I'll definitely need to rework my mail servers and those for BSDMail. I think I'll be going back to Cyrus, which I last used over 20 years ago. The problem is my memories have long faded, so it'll be like studying it again from scratch. And that makes me happy, because it'll be like learning something totally new!

Special thanks to @h3artbl33d for the heads up!

If anyone out there runs a #Plesk server, check to see if your have a ton of emails stuck in your mail queue. There was a problematic email security update that got applied within the past 12 hours that caused mail queues to stop processing both incoming and outgoing email.

Fortunately, it's an easy fix.

Well, this may be a first for me... I just received, on October 17, a bounce for an email message which my system sent on August 19.
It was an automated DMARC aggregate report email, and therefore there's a good chance the system it was sent to belongs to a spammer and therefore weird behavior from it would not be surprising, but still, bouncing a message after two months is pretty darn weird.

Do you run your own mailserver, for exchanging email with other people's mailservers?

(Yes, I know that those likely to see this are not representative of the general population. That's fine!)

Hello #MailServer maintainers! If you are using rbl.realtimeblacklist.com, you should be aware that as of around 4am US/Eastern this morning their domain has been parked and is returning bogus #DNSBL results. I suspect that the registration lapsed and a domain resale stalker snapped it up, though I can't say for certain. Perhaps it's a temporary blip that will be resolved, but you should stop using it in the meantime.

I've recently learned empirically that apparently #DNSBL responses that start with "127.255" indicate problems with the query or the DNSBL service rather than an actual listing for the queried host, but I can't find this actually _documented_ anywhere.
My best guess is that #Spamhaus did this first and others copied it.
Can anyone confirm that or, if it's wrong, point to a reference I've missed to online documentation of this?

#PSA for those of you who maintain your own #MailServer and use #Spamhaus as a #DNSBL to block spam.
Your server needs to be using a caching nameserver running locally or using Spamhaus DQS, rather than making Spamhaus DNS queries through a shared nameserver.
This has supposedly been true since 2021 but I just found out about it today so perhaps you are also unaware.
See spamhaus.com/resource-center/s .

Okay, so with my #mailserver and my #nextcloud instance running very well in #microk8s I am now ready for the final (and probably most demanding) task: #migrate my old homepage / website / blog / <whatever you kids call static web pages these days>

Up until now I used #wordpress and no, this is not what I want anymore.

I had a look at #hugo and #wondercms and both look quite interesting. So I turn to you, dear #fediverse and ask what you'd recommend to me?

Oh, tomorrow is #SmallBusinessSaturday.

Did I forget to mention that I'm a small business.

I run a managed IT service for content creators, focusing mostly on PoC.

Lately, I've been running hosting for a few small companies.

Keep in mind that not only am I hosting my own #Mastodon instance, but I run my own #MailServer, I've deployed #Forums, and do few other projects and am open to others.
