Wordpress Wizard Required:

I need to hire a freelance Wordpress expert to help guide multiple projects into fruition. It’s project work, but it’s ongoing. I’m handling the overall content and design but the better your design skills, the more I’ll pay you to do. Otherwise, just fix what I break: “I want it to look like this. Can you make it work?”

It’s mostly brochureware to start but will quickly need to integrate with other systems. Hospitality. Payment.
US/CA Only.

So here are some very rough and ugly graphs with attendance and ticket sale data for #WCEU and #WCUS. Unless the ticket sales for #WCUS at least double in the month until the event it will be waaayy smaller than before.

I assume these numbers to represent community sentiment better and react way faster than market share. So personally these make me quite worried about #WordPress.

After #WCEU I heard many times that the declining attendee numbers can probably be explained by Switzerland being so expensive. I remember the same argument after Paris in 2017.

But that drop was nowhere as big as the one this year. And with everything going on in the #WordPress world I doubted this alone explained it.

I now got triggered by mastodon.social/@boogah@simian from @boogah again and had a quick look at the (very patchy) numbers I could find.

You can't help but wonder what this says about the state of the #WordPress community when its premiere event of the year struggles to fill seats.

Now, I'm not going to pretend that I know what the answer is, but I'm pretty sure that "pretend everything is fine" ain't it.

7.1.0 — Polishing Tables

This release introduces a redesigned Followers table that’s easier to navigate and customize—hide columns, change how many entries you see, or remove followers directly. Migrations are now simpler: just paste in a WebFinger ID or profile URL, and the plugin takes care of the rest. We’ve also fixed an issue where old, unfederated posts could be mistakenly re-sent—those will now stay quiet unless they’re recent. Plus, lots of behind-the-scenes improvements for a smoother experience.

Bought a #WordPress theme on ThemeForest, saw that it was "Elementor compatible." Fine, I don't know Elementor, don't need it.

Turns out it isn't just compatible, EVERYTHING about the theme is locked up behind this website builder within a website builder.

Now I see 'Elementor compatible' on a bunch of other themes and... is this just what WordPress themes are now? Does anyone build actual WordPress themes anymore or does everyone just crutch on Elementor and make us do all the work?

In eigener Sache: „Mediathekperlen 2.0“ (beta)

So ein Umbau ist ein sensibles Biest. Nicht alles was gut aussieht, funktioniert auch so. Und nicht alles, was neu ist, ist auch besser, als das, was war. Zumal die Menschen ja auch Gewohnheitstiere sind. Und Geschmack ist nicht streitbar. Entscheidend ist: Ist es noch benutzbar. Und das für alle? Herzlich willkommen zum Beta-Test!
