We went to the Folk Art Center in #Asheville today, a place we try to visit every month or so to see what's changed. Always interesting!

An artist I just don't recall seeing had 2.5 bays of the upper walkway filled with his watercolored etchings and they were super. Mostly botanicals and birds, the level of detail was extraordinary. Didn't take any photos, of course, but did look up his website.

If you visit this city, don't miss the Center, it's a gem.

johnfurches.com The John Furches Gallery John Furches is best known for his ability to depict the relationships of color and nature in rural landscapes and nostalgic still life's.

After a rocky start to the year, my foray into etching continues. This is a summer sun view of Allan Bank Grasmere, one-time home (and for a time legal nightmare) of William Wordsworth. I’m not so much interested in the house as the challenge of the depth and difference of that backdrop of trees, the shadows from the eaves and the rendering of that fell. 45m etch under way #AltText #Cumbria #Wordsworth #etching #intaglio #printmaking

Gerald Brockhurst -- Lassitude

British American artist Brockhurst was well known in the interwar years for his society portraits. He was also an engraver and etcher of note, and today he is probably best known for his 1932 print "Adolescence", in which a young naked woman is shown gazing at her reflection in a dressing table mirror.

"Lassitude" dates from ten years before. I like the way the fabric of the dress is etched, the overall composition of the picture, and the sheer prettiness of the girl.
