Is anyone experienced in #androidtv on #raspberrypi? I want to get rid of my fire TV stick, but i can't get used to kodi.
Seems to be not to complicated, if you ever installed a custom ROM.

I noticed that one of them is on the #IzzyOnDroid repo and the libre version is one incremental version behind.
Also, if you scroll down on the Aves regular version, #FDroid warns you that it's anti features is use of #Google proprietary libraries.
So #Chromecast or #AndroidTV features?
So it arrived yesterday, box was a little bashed, inside there is the tiny #AndroidTV box, a short hdmi cable, a power cable with barrel jack (AC to DC 5v) and a remote control
It's smaller then I thought

#SideProject: with the rise of #linux based SBC and all the awesome things people do with them I was thinking but with the fact that they are increasingly not cheap, is there a source of #linux devices that could be hacked to be useful.
After a bit of research I thought #AndroidTV boxes might be a good target, there are loads of projects putting Linux on them which is a good start.
So off to AliExpress I go, after a bit of browsing I take a risk and order a cheap (£20) androidtv box which claims to have a allwinner H313 and the option of 8Gb ram...
Here begins a little hacking thread of when it arrived 1/n

#FireTV Stick, Fire TV Cube, #Nvidia #ShieldTV,
#Android Smartphones and Tablets, #AndroidTV boxes, #Windows-Computer, and #AppleMac / #Macintosh..."
So, regardless of the device, only one tool needs to be learned and maintained across all your devices.
I'll have to look into this.

NVIDIA just rolled out an updated for its Shield TV media streamers. It's mostly a bug fix release, and it's the first update in over a year. But it applies to models as old as the 2015 Shield TV, meaning it's still supported 9 years later. https://buff.ly/3ZY2SmE #NVIDIA #NVIDIAShieldTV #AndroidTV

As a heavy user of the original #Chromecast, and a current user of the #CCwGtv I'm not sad at all.
#ONN makes excellent #AndroidTV boxes that are just as cheap and even better built than the #Google ones.
Just sideload #SmartTube and bob's your uncle!
TBH I think #OUYA should've ditched their own #controllers and instead choose to rebadge a pair of 3rd party #Xbox360 #wired #USB Gamepads instead.
That would've saved them at least $50 per controller even if they customized it with #OUYA buttons.
Needless to say the OUYA is instrumental to pusing #Android onto #TV and creating a force for a #GamePad - #API on Android and basically kick off both a flood of cheap #AndroidTV and Android-based #MiniConsoles as well as #Apple including #Bluetooth Controller Support for the #AppleTV and games for it.
Split tunneling is now available on #AndroidTV.

Turns out I got the non-illuminated remote
Oh well, at least it doesn't have the "Free TV" button that does Google-knows what.

> the Onn Pro’s box includes support for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. It also sports 3GB of RAM, comes with 32GB of storage, and has Wi-Fi 6 support as well, with four rear ports: one HDMI, one USB 3.0, one ethernet, and a barrel connector for power.

Does anybody know of a deGoogled Android TV OS?
Sick of the #streaming sites raising prices and adding... ads? Annoyed that #spotify doesn't pay the artists you listen to?
Now there is #Jellyfin - a #free and #openSource media server that allows you to turn your personal movie, TV show and music collection into an #adFree available-anywhere streaming service!
It works on the web, as well as having official apps for #androidTV, #roku, #fireTV, etc.
So I decided to buy a Chromecast with Google TV after all.
I started to rip my dvd's just for fun and testing. I thought they would look like garbage when played as dvd's are 576p (or 480p). However, some part of my Android TV + Jellyfin + Kodi combo actually upscales them! Of course it's not the same as real HD but it looks so much better, and now ripping the rest of the dvd's makes more sense!
