I just got into biking again as an adult, and I’m loving it!

Now I’m on the hunt for a simple open source app to track how far I ride. Bonus points if it’s on GitHub, if not, at least F-Droid works. If there’s nothing bike-specific, I’m cool with any travel or hiking tracker too.

I use a Pixel 9a with GrapheneOS.

Any recs? Drop ’em here!

Just, wow, I never expected my little hobby app to reach 100K active users, and that's just on #GooglePlay, still excluding other app stores like #IzzyOnDroid, #FDroid, direct downloads from #GitHub and sketchy app piracy sites (please don't use that last one, for your own safety )!

Ehh well.. Ive been using the weather channel website for a few years but they recently went full adwall..so... I dug around on #fdroid and found my new #foss #weather app Breezy Weather.

Not perfect..but not bad..

Pocket Paint isn't designed for pixel art, but it can do the job better than lots of specialized Android apps. And it uses the .ora format, as everybody should.

Viele android Einstellungen sind nur umständlich zu erreichen z. B. schalte ich regelmäßig das private DNS um oder stelle das Gerät für Meetings besonders ein, das ist immer eine wüste Klickerei. Um das zu automatisieren nutze ich seit einiger Zeit Klick'r, damit lassen sich Kaskaden von touchevents speichern und automatisiert abrufen.

Please . I'm going to stop short of saying you should not install the #ICEBlock app, but you should know that you're painting a giant target on your back if you use it, and it does not protect your information adequately. The Trump administration is not being coy about how they see this app and it's users, citing charges of obstruction of justice and general threats of prosecution.

The developer ignorantly insists the only way to safely use it is through iOS app store. That ignores the fact that Apple collects data on what users are installing what apps. It also ignores that the gov has been intercepting push notifications for several years now, so it would be as simple as comparing that data against those who receive push notifications at specific times to determine who is using the app.

The app is also closed-source, so the community cannot inspect it for vulnerabilities.

If they distributed through a 3rd party app store on Android, such as #fdroid (which you cannot do on iOS), they could allow users to run their own notification system using #unifiedpush. Google would not be involved at any stage.

Yes, this would be a high barrier to entry for use, but I think the usecase demands it. Almost certainly we will soon see prosecution for the apps' users and probably also removal from the App Store. Apple most certainly does not care enough to fight the government over this.

That is, unless, as I suspect, this app is actually a #honeypot.

The browser I use on Android (Fennec F-Droid) just switched my default search engine back to Goggle, and what's worse, completely removed Mojeek and Brave as search options. This is an anti-feature!

It would be great if F-Droid builds of Android browsers stripped out the code that pulls dick moves like this.
