New #introduction post!

I'm Alicia and I'm a fibre artist (#dyeing #handspinning #felting #needlefelting #weaving #crochet #embroidery #upcycling #sewing) with interests in #mandala #art #psychedelicart #sacredgeometry #neurographicart and #watercolors.

My family and I run a business called @Fibre2Fabric where we dye all sorts of exotic #fibre #yarn, and #fabric.

I live in the country with my partner and our 6 #cats, 3 #dogs, #snake and #crestedgecko where I enjoy my many interests. (#gardening #plants #herbalism #fungi #music #ukulele #piano #dancing #flowart #reading #writing #tarot #poetry #haiku #cozygames and I'm getting more into #opensource / #linux)

When I say flow art, I mean spinning props like #hulahoop #leviwand #puppyhammer #poi #staff #silkfans #firefans etc.

I love #languagelearning. I studied #German and #Spanish as a kid, took #Japanese in uni, and I'm currently studying #ASL #Cree #Tokipona #Spanish and #Chinese. I also dabble in #French and #Latin sometimes and I'm learning #Greggshorthand to write faster. Cree is my favourite language and Spanish is my second.

I've been cursed since childhood with that lovely trifecta of #heds #pots and #mcas. Healing slowly but surely.

Hope I get to meet even more cool people the algorithms would normally drown out on other social media sites. I love it here!

I haven't posted much lately due to mental and physical health issues that make it hard to do much except close my eyes and rest...but thought I'd share something that I'm slowly trying to finish in Sketchbook Pro with digital pencil brushes. It's from a series that I started around this time last year I think. I'll try and post some progress images soon.

When I made these back in 2022 I heard the story of a grandmother who gave soldiers sunflower seeds to put in their pockets so that something good may grow out of the war and their deaths.

I contemplated this while I used the Tryzub device without the shield on the Ukrainian Coat of Arms and it's two colours to form ornamental mandalas that represented sunflowers.

A quick post and run… a couple of dot painted stones I made in the last week. The first one was just a free-handed geometric pattern I drew on the initial grid, and the second features pastel colours chosen by a friend of mine. The pattern for that one wasn't planned or anything, it just came out as I went.

(I playfully call the design in the second one "Pastel Butt-Stuff". X) I'm such a child, haha. :da_sweat: )

[Feeling low on spoons, so I'd be very grateful if someone could help me out with alt-text! Thank you! :da_cuddle: ]

Another #wip. This is the Elerrina Blanket by K.A.M.E crochet designs. I started this project on a trip to Uzbekistan for a mathematics seminar (it was a grant funded program through my grad school). I have a hard time working on this project because it is very intricate (i.e. it requires concentration), but I feel so much joy after every finished round. I should make a point to work on this project for a few hours a week so I can finally finish it. #crochet #crocheting #mandala #blanket #fiberartist #yarn
