Beauty and calm, so close to Birmingham, the UK's 2nd-largest city.

Some historic bridges over the BCN Wyrley & Essington canal are cast iron. Like old bridges over most UK canals, the iron parts are painted black and white, the brick is unpainted.

It's jarring to see several Cannock Extension canal bridges tagged with a new, bright blue, Canal & River Trust sign. The image description (ALT text) describes original signage.

Some ISP news:

Bell Canada bought 8 ISPs in total.
It is keeping 2 uits. One in Toronto, operating as Primus, and one in Montreal operating as EBOX. The Primus unit is basically Distributel (which had had Primuse under its wings for years). EBOX combines Ebox, B2B2C, Oricom and the rest.

One interesting feature of that 1994 Sony design was the remote control. It was rather beefy, and if you pulled it apart from its hard sleeve (by pressing the tabs on the top), you'd discover it had buttons on both sides.

One side meant for power users, the other meant for your grandma.

As a teen, I thought that was super cool.

I also concluded from this long PS2 session that Sony dropped the ball regarding the aesthetics of their later CRTs.

Even though my KV-21FX30E is featureful, has good sound and picture, and is contemporary to the early PS2 models (2001), I'm not really fond of its silver paint and blocky lines.

Their mid-90's design was much better looking, especially the "compact" ones (no speakers hanging off the sides) like this random example from the Internet. 🤩
