Let's settle the debate: what is the best display connection for retro games on a CRT, in your opinion?

I'm not talking about technicality or objective fact. Which one looks the best to YOUR eyes?

#DYK Did you know one of the first Online Dispute Resolution #ODR system incorporated into a public justice system is the Civil Resolution Tribunal #CRT in #BritishColumbia, #Canada? It was implemented in 2015, and its jurisdiction has been enlarged in small increments. It now adjudicates for 6 statutes, and lists others on its website.

I've discovered shaders in RetroArch and now I can't stop. The Royale shader truly makes these games feel like they did when I was a kid!

They do look a bit better if you zoom in, and they look even BETTER if you see them in person, since this shader also replicates that pleasant glow that CRT phosphors gave off when playing these games.

Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight
Steam, 2016
Bombservice

A bite-sized Metroidvania with Souls-like influences for #scanlinesunday.

Stunning character animation, rewarding exploration, challenging bosses, desolate vibes.

And the best part: You can turn into a cat.

Currently 5$ in the Summer Steam Sale!

Some inside baseball: This game resisted being CRT photographed like no other. I had to record my whole playthrough to video, export individual frames, edit them, and then battle pervasive moire and camera reflections.

xFace is the standard here on desktop

It is the nicest the most pleasant for me.

The thing with traditional user interfaces is that people, UI designers, knew how eyes work.

Designers knew how to use the minimum of resources, to get the maximum amount of contrast, the maximum amount of rest, the maximum amount of rasterization, to achieve that your eyes will be relaxed looking at a cathode ray tube given an, amber colour for hours, and still being able to work pleasantly

The UI designers worked with Hardware Engineers, to know where the sweep pattern of the ray of the tube is, so that the display is interlaced in a pleasurable fashion for your eyes that's how far they went!

One thing that's also extremely annoying is disappearing scroll bars. What I can tell you, is that if I lock my mind on it, I can make patches for all the Desktop Environments and all the Window Managers that I use to put back the old fat non disappearing scroll bars back

There was never a good reason to make scroll bars disappear.

All it does is make things difficult for children with maximum dexterity from the minimum age of four, all the way up to the disaster for people who have limited Mobility who are Beyond sixty years of age

GNOME 2.x has something that the other Gnome's have never had. Full configurability almost like KDE has

That was the period where I would gladly use both Gnome and KDE on my desktops.

When the Gnome programmers started to think for me, is when I Departed.

I am however glad that the Gnome project exists and thrives, because there are hundreds of thousands of people who like the way that the Gnome programmers work. Without Gnome we would have lost those people to Macintosh

Get back to subject please take your time to go to Amber monitors, to the time when you had to run Sidekick, the time when you had to run DOS 3.3

I'm almost certain, no I am certain that you can't argue, that what sidekick did there for a crude and rudimentary user interface was advanced.

I love the way SideKick used the interrupt timer, interrupt the whole system inserted stuff do whatever it wants to do, then tell DOS how to save the files, and then when you got out of SideKick, it was almost magical, that you could use a single tasking operating system and pause it do one of the tasks and then resume it without the operating system ever getting screwed up
