@kkarhan the #userexperience lens is a useful one. Your payment example went through my head during my struggles with the #ev. Never mind the fees, the economics, and also the reliability of the chargers.
In just one charge attempt, I went through 3 chargers before finding one that worked, although at best it was a medium rate charger.
@leanlearnlead see, this kind of feature regression on top of being more expensive is why #ElectricCars suck in terms of #UX!
The fact that on top of being slower to load than gas up it's less convenient makes it a no-go for me as I'm not privileged to own a house where I can get a #Wallbox installed!
"Let me be crystal clear before we begin: I say all of the below with love for #thefediverse.. Deep, stubborn, open-source-loving, billionaire-eschewing love. I want the #OpenSocialWeb to win. But wanting it isn’t enough. If we want this thing to thrive we have to face the #userexperience sins head-on—and maybe even laugh at them a little along the way."

More on website UX being terrible. I just visited a research/academic org site. It was the usual WordPress huge 'hero' photo slideshow with sliding up/down messages too long to read before they swished offscreen, info panels underneath that slid seductively upward into view and a logo that was mostly illegible. All completely unsuited to the content.
PLEASE stop. This corporatisation into a one size fits all is useless sh*t.
Tried to delete my Airbnb account. Saw a "Deactivate" button and thought - wow, guess I was wrong about corporations going out of their way to hold on to their property (your data).
But nope, turns out deletion is a separate process.
Airbnb: "Just contact support to reactivate."
Support: "Please login."
Support: "Sorry, you can’t login, this account is deactivated."
Love a good dark pattern.
Lets talk about user experience going down the toilet. I tried to find a product Id saved to a list on Amzn. But infinite scroll meant I had to go through loads of other stuff before I might see it. I gave up. Same happened on eBy. Tried to find an artist FB page post Id saved. Infinite scroll again. No search. No static list. No pagination. Why has it all become so bad? Ditch infinite bloat and provide actual user task functionality.

All tools create a path of least resistance. When it comes to AI chatbots, that path is to trust the AI's outputs.
Unfortunately, all LLMs hallucinate. And as users get used to relying on the machine, their ability and willingness to spot these errors deteriorates.
Blaming the user for this is irresponsible. The problem is caused by the way these tools are designed - so it's up to us, as designers, to fix it.

We're time traveling back to 1997 today, when WYSIWYG editors were all the rage. In the decades since, web technology has clawed its way from that primitive state with semantic HTML that made accessibility possible and let content drive appearance rather than vice-versa.
Figma Sites turned its back on nearly 30 years of progress, with a product that is only good for generating website-like demos for stakeholders that won't use them.
Let's #workTogether !
No job description yet, but, hear me out:
I've recently left #RedHat, to do something I feel is more meaningful: help build a better home for #OpenSource: @radicle
We're now looking for someone with experience in the #frontend world and a #UserExperience focus and #product builder mindset to join my team!

#NeuHier
Ok, I just installed linux and the experience sucked. Everything worked at the first try, even in advance mode all was flawless.
This is not the experience I remember, where is the need to spend 4 hrs figuring how why the wifi card is not working, or trying 30 different configurations of X.
Now what I am suposse to do? Just use it? Where is the learning at the hard way?

Is UX Design is stuck in a rut?
With the rise of templated web sites, open source design systems, & developer frameworks it can be argued that there is little innovation seen in user experience design that is tied to predefined user interfaces. It can also be argued that consistency of user interface design leads to a better overall user experience for everyone. That is a matter of debate, so let’s have one.
