I created a new post on my website to give some background/history into how Jikaze 
came to be and what my goals with it are. I left out some historical details (like renaming the project from LibreRiichi to Jikaze) because I didn't feel like they were important enough to mention.
I hope to keep monthly updates about what's been going on in Jikaze.

Finally, my #introduction. Moved to #Portland in 2020. Have dabbled in various creative endeavors but mostly focusing on producing #music these days (nearly done mixing an album I recorded in #Japan in late 2013). hello. i used to be on fosstodon at @jabster28@fosstodon.org, but running my own seemed fun so now i'm on my own #sharkey instance at mace.lol
i'm currently in university for a computer science degree (no i won't be homeless.). i do a lot of #programming and like to mess around with general #devops stuff (containerisation and networking mostly) in my free time, a lot of my mini projects revolve around automating this or that and making it work with everything else i have in my own ecosystem.
i #selfhost a lot of services for ephemeral file sharing and password management etc.
my main languages are #javascript / #typescript and #rust but i've been wanting to learn some #cpp or c# recently (i don't always want a program that's 1000% correct, cargo.)
(also css is genuinely an a tier language. insanely fit for purpose.)
i do some #networking and find it pretty fun mostly
i play a lot of #splatoon in my free time. i'm also fond of #mahjong, #minesweeper, and #tetris (modern tetris (usually techmino), not the official app) to sink my time into if i'm on my phone or something.
some more stuff i'm into that's probably more fringe:
#wikipedia editing is pretty fun, though it's rare that i'll get a chance to correct/add to an article that i know about and can source. doing coi requests is cool, though, you see some really interesting people
i'd love to be able to do #cooking faster but i feel that's only possible with enough time or money to cook when you don't need to (i have neither)
#libraries are really cool and i'd love to go to more of them and document them. working at one seems fun also
slightly related but i wouldn't mind getting better at #photography at some point (maybe make a pixelfed account?)
my only major political stance on here would probably be that #privacy is a fundamental human right, and a lot of things online right now don't let you control that as well as you should
i guess that leads into me liking #monero, there's not many other ways you can transfer wealth to someone without anyone else snooping. no, b*tcoin doesn't count, it's simply not fit for purpose.
that also goes into #cryptography i suppose. the mathematics inside things like ecdh is pretty beautiful. one of the reasons i'm going to university is to eventually be able to fully understand elliptic curves and a lot of the cryptography we use nowadays.

If there's one #gaming series I just continue to give reprieve to, amongst all the #shovelware, #liveservices and #AAA wankery, it's the #Yakuza series.
#SEGA proves that as a publisher they can churn out fun games that aren't exploiting the user, that gives you enjoyable characters like #Kiryu and #Majima, along with satisfying game mechanics and the slew of mini games.
Of course the real reason you pay $60 is to play #Mahjong as Majima. That alone sinks it.

Adds support for Nagashi Mangan.
I'll try making the Steam build tomorrow, and hopefully they can all be released at the same time shortly after.
Made some progress today on implementing "Nagashi Mangan". I still have to add all the Settings toggles and translations for it, but it seems to be working so far. :)
I've been playing Riichi Mahjong for a while now (as you might know if you follow me), but recently even more so than usual. So I decided to record games to upload on Youtube! Currently just one, as I just started today, but more will be coming in the following days.

I taught the kids to play Mahjong and we played several rounds after dinner. So much fun and to my delight they really loved it and got quite good at it. I also found out that the way I used to play it with my family isn’t quite according to the rules so I had to adjust to the official rules but that just added to the fun.

There seems to be a bug in iPad OS 17.1 that makes the left and right-hand-side players' tiles invisible for some reason when playing in landscape orientation. Not sure why at the moment, but I'm investigating. Sorry for the issue... :/
In the meantime, portrait mode still works at least...

Hi! AJ / Tyron / “gay pink robot”, both drowning in and contributing to the forever nightmare hole of other people’s software.
I maintain a VRChat mahjong parlor, do yearly fighting game dumpster dives on the Kusoge Advent Calendar, and I’m working with a team of friends on Dr. Robotnik’s Ring Racers, a classic-style kart racer with deep roots in Doom source ports.
When not doing that, I’m shouting about MMO encounter design, falling into arcade game special-interest sinkholes, or getting strangled by my own audio setup as I try to sample “metal pipe falling sfx.wav” in weird bespoke music software.
Feel free to say hi—our instance is pretty small and I’d love to get acquainted with more of the network.
