I just noticed that a couple of my mature #rhododendron seem to be sick. The leaves usually curl in only during extremely cold weather, but these look like they never got the message that it's warmer and spring is nearly here. It was a fairly normal winter; cold with a few light snowfalls. The kicker is that some branches are affected while others look normal. Any ideas? I hate to pull these out. #Gardening #Landscaping #Backyard
Today, at the direction of my HOA, landscapers came by and lopped off the top halves of everyone’s lilac bushes. Does anyone know if they’ll grow back?

Memories from visiting #ButchartGardens with my Mom. This bench is one of her fave #RestSpots there.
Thinking back upon #Summer memories, walking around #ButchartGardens - on #WsanecTerritory.
The pretty little #ZenGarden with ponds, before the snow blizzard hit.
Serviceberry tree blossoms. It’s a lovely little tree that I planted a couple years ago. I don’t give it any special treatment. Probably should water it more often. #lowmaintenance #serviceberry. #nature #gardening #landscaping

A little thing I've been working on, incrementally. Made some progress in the last couple days. The first image is a couple days ago and the second is today, closer to completion. More #urbanite to install at the top, and to the left of the steps. I already started adding plants. #Mulch tomorrow.

One of the projects we completed to prepare for a house sale was an overhaul of our front lawn, including eliminating a firepit and pea stone sitting area. Here's the before ( mid-May) and after (today after a fresh cut). Grew in nicely.
Trying something new this week - a Friday wine & cheese open house, from 5pm to 7pm. Our agent has had some success with the tactic this summer, and tipsy buyers might be a good thing.
all i been doing for the past 2 days = buckthorn removal.
mud wrestling w/serpentine invasive plant roots.
my Dad never did any yard care/maintenance. Couldn't tell the difference btwn buckthorn, birch and bee balm.
my landscaping estimate for shoreline restoration & erosion prevention= $90k+ Seems rather high for the minimal amount we want done.
Awaiting estimate from tree removal/pruning company.

As long as it is tended with fire safety in mind, more areas would benefit from this.

Assembling & erecting this arbor to support some arching but drooping branches of our Young’s Weeping Birch has been our Labor Day weekend project — tho it would have been more appropriate as an Arbor Day project! It still needs a finishing touch or two (like recessing the visible stabilizing board so we can cover it with rocks, & of course festooning the arbor with little white faerie lights is IMPERATIVE!
) But we’re really happy with it!
