One thing that doesn’t change much compared to commercial social networks is that some “important” people (perhaps within the Fediverse, rather than in an absolute sense) tend to interact only with other “important” people.

On one hand, I can understand it - no one can realistically respond to thousands of messages. But when you notice that these individuals do engage with comments, yet only from others in the same “important” circle (without even leaving a simple "favorite" on comments), it’s clear that a sort of elite group has formed. In these cases, the dynamic doesn’t feel all that different from the “influencer” culture on commercial platforms.

of negative #interactions between the innocent #animals and #people, with authorities citing the conflict as justification for captures, AfP said.

It’s time to end the cruel and brutal treatment of these beautiful and innocent #monkeys. No animal deserves to undergo brutal experiments, especially when human biology-based methods are safer, faster, and more reliable. There also are effective and more humane ways to resolve conflict with animals than resorting automatically to #killing them.

Interesting.

"The researchers [exploit] a peculiar way in which pairs of photons [...] can imitate a graviton, the hypothesized particle that conveys the force of gravity. By pinging the proton with photons, they indirectly infer how gravity would interact with it, realizing a decades-old dream of interrogating the proton in this alternative way."

*Ring* - it's the doorbell.

The bell rings twice more before I even get to the door.

I open the door and there’s somebody standing in the doorway of our neighbour’s apartment. The angle is such that I can’t tell if they actually have the door open and are inside the apartment or are just standing in the doorway.

I look at them inquiringly.

“Can I have your WiFi password?” they say, holding up their phone.

I’m like, “What?”

“Your WiFi password. I just want to make a call,” they say as if this was the most normal thing.

“I don’t want to give you my password,” I say and close the door.

That really was the whole interaction. I’m just flabbergasted by the whole thing still. Did they really think that I’d simply hand over access to my WiFi to somebody I didn’t know? (I don’t know my neighbours and they’ve never spoken to me before …)

Do they understand the security implications of the whole thing? Or was it an emergency (like trying to make a call without anybody else knowing for some reason)? If it was an emergency, why didn’t they tell me so?

I don’t know … But I’m still wondering …

Today's #interactions with my #kitty #cat who only gets outdoors time - on harness leash. I don't do any outdoor cats & taught all cats who lived with me to go on harness. It's irresponsible ASF to let cats, who are an invasive species, to free roam & kill/harm wild birds.

Don't get me started on rats reduction because there's study on that myth too. Also I had cats die from killing rodents who ate rat poisons & killed birds tainted with diseases.
Admit - you're too lazy to do better for cats.
