I contend that if Space:1999 had writing on a par with its art direction, costuming, and casting, it would still be a going concern while Star Trek would be a quaintly amusing curiosity of its time like Lost In Space. Oy vey, that writing, though, especially that second season.

I expanded my last post into a new article on Medium, quite different that all my other writings on Medium, this one is a How-to to generate stylistically similar images in a consistent way utilizing LLMs and GenAI Text to image systems.

Thinking this morning (as usual) about #sciencefiction in #film and #television. One thing that detracts from believability when depicting science and tech: way too much art direction. Here are images from an Avengers movie and HBO's "Westworld." Compare to the third photo, from Fermilab. I get the impulse to design and light for drama. But who could work in the dark like that? If anyone ever *does* invent a time machine or a warp drive, it's probably gonna be in a mundane, florescent-lit room with a crummy color palette.
