@yassie_j #Yammer still exists?
Went to go remove any #microsoft games from my #Steam wishlist, only to realize I don't have a single one on there. No #activison, no #bethesda, no #blizzard. Turns out I haven't really been microsoft's main target for a while. I don't use #Windows. Never used #Bing. Don't write programs with #DirectX, I use Vulkan and #OpenGL and #SDL. Don't use #OneDrive. Never used #Skype. Don't use an #Xbox #controller on my PC, I use an 8bitdo controller. Don't use #Azure. I am disconnected from them.
Can I #askFedi ?
I sometimes need to call Japanese landline phones from Italy or Italian landline phones from Japan.
Are there "safe" #alternatives to #Skype ?
I've found these, but see the numbers: first is number of #trackers, second is number of permissions.
- Poptox - web, gratis (!), seems not working with Italian landlines.
- Yolla 11 34
- RebTel 7 40
- Talk360 6 42
- Viber 7 83
- Zoiper 1 38 <-- "best"?
- Skype 3 67

Vous vivez dans un monde où #skype est mort, et où #Framatalk vous sert toujours aussi bien !

Opened up the #Skype app on the one computer where I actually had the app installed ... just to see it one last time before #Microsoft killed it off ... (which I had in my brain as May 10 for some reason) ... and found it was already gone.
For SO MANY YEARS from the mid-2000s on, Skype was woven into the fabric of my daily life. It has NOT been for most of the last 10 years or so... I don't even have it installed on recent computers... but for a time, it was THE tool.
Goodbye, Skype!

One recent memory of Skype is how Microsoft shut down accounts of Palestinians without explanation, cutting them off from crucial lifelines amidst the genocide. #skype

So long, #Skype. Sure was great while it lasted.
