You never read a LinkedIn profile that starts out boasting someone is just a problem-identifier - but you do see people boasting that they are a problem-solver! You never see a resume that lists a key skill as problem identification without solution generation. You'll never find someone proud of the fact that they spend their time whining about all the problems they've found, rather than speaking about the solutions they've identified.

Solve problems, don't stop at just finding them!

How can you do this if it doesn't come naturally to you? It involves your mindset, habits, and skills.

Start by sharing your perspective - it's all about opportunities, not barriers. Be proactive instead of reactive - so that you are always trying to move forward, not back. Changing your tone helps - replace “we can’t” with “how can we?” Stop being the victim - don't say “Why is this happening to me?" but rather "What should we do about it?"

And spend more time thinking about trends, not barriers. All of the individuals I have met who have an innovative mindset seem to have a better understanding of where we are going tomorrow than those who do not. They spend time thinking about and studying the things that will matter tomorrow, rather than obsessing over the things that are getting in the way today.

Confidence matters too - confidence in yourself, your team, and your ability to smash through the barriers that might get in your way. With that comes the necessity for perseverance - don't give up so easily!

Last week, I spoke at the Manufacturers Association for Plastic Processors conference in Indianapolis; my topic was the impact and opportunity of artificial intelligence technologies in the manufacturing industry. As is usually the case, the day started with an early morning (630am) stage/sound check. That's the short time in which I visit the room, check that my laptop plugs into the AV system fine, the audio works, and that the stage is set. Because it's showtime!

Bill Stainton was also there at the same time - he was there to speak on the theme of innovation, and in particular, his topic, Connect the Dots: How to Unleash Your Hidden Ingenuity. I'd never met Bill before although I had heard his name - you can't be a speaker on stage and not be familiar with other folks in your line of work. We had a great chat as we took our turns testing out our setup.

Bill's focus is, like many of my events, on innovation. I came at it through a technology lens - he came at it as the Executive Producer of Seattle’s legendary comedy TV show Almost Live!, leading his team to over 100 Emmys of their own, as well as 10 straight years of #1 ratings.

s we spoke, Bill took two ketchup bottles out of his bag to place on the stage tabletop - and at that moment, I had a great laugh, because, as you might know, for a time I featured the upside-down ketchup bottle as the core of an innovation-themed talk.

courtesy of Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, which has gone almost completely without comment from our mainstream media here in the #UK and it really warrants some coverage, because he absolutely nailed Israel’s true intentions, hammered #Netanyahu for his drivel of a speech to the #United_Nations, essentially handing him his backside and telling the world that Israel cannot be allowed, cannot be permitted to hold the entire Middle East hostage as it seeks to broaden it’s war against #Palestinian Occupied Territories and Lebanon.

Right, so that was Jordan’s Foreign Minister there, Ayman Safadi, who was determined to be allowed to say something on camera at the United Nations Security Council, following Benjamin Netanyahu’s pathetic woe is me stunt at the UN, whilst bemoaning the fact so many UN states are calling Israel out for war crimes it is blatantly of course committing, I think only the most ardent and determined #Zionists these days truly believe otherwise.

Safadi attacked Netanyahu straight out of the blocks there, the claim made that Israel was surrounded by enemies, quite aside from the fact all of Israel’s enemies right now are enemies it has brought on itself following their disproportionate and ongoing attacks on #Gaza, following the night of October 7th. By invading Gaza as they have, not having a right to defend themselves as so many claim, because Gaza was Israeli occupied territory, they brought other Arab nations down on their heads, from Lebanon to Yemen, Iraq to Syria, but Jordan has kept out of it, despite taking up much of Israel’s eastern border. So maybe he was offended because Jordan was getting labelled alongside these other more aggressive neighbours Israel has made for itself, or maybe Jordan’s largely neutral stance – though not exclusively, they allowed their airspace to be used by Israel’s allies when Iran attacked them following the bombing of their embassy in Damascus – is too neutral and Israel are determined to drag Jordan in and demand they pick a side?

But actually, it’s about more than Jordan, this was a group of 57 countries after all, this was Safadi speaking at the UN as a representative of the OIC, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and as he said, that is a representative body consisting of and representing 57 mainly #Muslim #Arab states that vast majority in Asia and #Africa as you might expect, but also includes #Albania, #Guyana and #Suriname.

#WhenIwas12.. Just an ordinary #neighborhood_kid -seeking some #spare_change..

Bottle returns wasn't cutting it.. Back in the day; one could make money 'for' #recycling. The way it should be today IMHO!.. but that's another story..

One day at 12 years old, I was hanging out with friends and overheard one saying that a #parade is coming to town and they need kids to #sell_parade_programs?

Immediately my ears perked up since a #J_O_B at my age was tough -considering I was #underage to #work #officially.

Received further details of the parade and ended up at the program #distribution center at 6 am. Literally a 100 kids #waiting_in_line for #parade_programs to sell.

My turn came next and they gave me 50 programs. I ask them, " #How do we #sell these"? They said, "Just go outside and start selling them".
#TRAINING_OVER I guess.. I ask for #another 50 programs. I had 100 programs clinched in my hands:)

We were to sell them at $0.25 cents a piece.

While myself and 30 other kids stood outside, programs firmly grasped in hand -looking at each other wondering #OK_WHAT_NOW?.. Duh!

I stood and watched the other kids for a while.. I noticed the crowd all lined up waiting for the parade floats to PASS by.. Still watching the rest of the kids to see if I could pick up any pointers. #Wishful_thinking on my part. chuckles.

But while watching I realized the other kids were selling the programs to the #BACK of the #Crowd. I said to myself, "I'll #never sell many programs that way!"

"I NEED TO #GET IN #FRONT OF THE #CROWD!:)"

So with a few " #ex_squeeze_mez " (excuse me:) I ended up at the front of the crowd!

" #PARADE_PROGRAMS FOR #SALE" I #SHOUTED! -at the top of my lungs.

Within 10 minutes I sold 100 programs. YEAH!

I RAN back to the warehouse for more programs (.. #rinse and #repeat ;)

200 this time. Sold them in 20 min flat! At the end of the day I had $120.00 in my pocket. Not bad daily pay for a 12 year old kid considering min wage was $1.20 or less -cant remember.

Next year at 13, I #CAME_BACK with a #VENGEANCE!

Arrived at the program #warehouse at 5am. They #remembered_me from the amount of programs I sold the year prior..

This time I asked for 10 boxes!! 500 programs per box!! She let me have them to my surprise.

#THE_PLAN:

I decided I was going to hide these boxes in #bushes along the way of the parade (which stretched a few miles) so I wouldn't need to keep #running_back (aka #Time_Management) for more programs -which wasted most of my time to sell.

I located the boxes in #strategic places >> equally spaced >> where they would not be seen. (bushes;) along the 3 mile run of the parade.

While distributing the boxes the first thing I noticed was that the other kids where still selling programs to the BACK of the crowd..

I thought to myself.. Hmmm. #No_Competition;)

As soon as I was able to get back to the parades starting line, I headed to the front of the crowd.

To #MY_SHOCK, standing in front of me.. #WAS_A_COP! Not only that BUT many Cops -- along the way. In fact, they were spread out every 300 feet, I think:(

...and wont allow ANYONE to stand outside past the curb.. Ummm THATS #ME BTW!:(

What #TODO?!!!

~Hmmm -NOW WHAT!? "OK," I said to myself. All I need to do is a little - #Dipping and #Diving~.

And that's what I did! When I got within 50 feet of an " #officer" :) I would #dip back into the crowd, AND #dive back to the #FRONT OF THE #CROWD.

Plus Hey, I was just a #kid. Many OFFICERS just ignored me.. or thought -- I was just #part of the #parade;) ..

Sold all 10 boxes (5000 programs) made more money than most KIDS MY AGE have ever seen, especially my friends, -most likely -at that age -in that era.. perhaps..not sure.. chuckles

Food for thought. I didn't even realize that I was in the #advertising_business at 12 years of age- and for many years to follow..

BUT! WE #KNOW #HOW_TO_SELL IN #FRONT OF THE #CROWD!

From small ideas, big things can grow!

That's what I was thinking about yesterday as I spent time with my long-time friend Marc Jeftovic. He's the CEO of easyDNS, a tech company that, well, helps you manage your DNS (or domain name service setup.) It might not sound like a service like that involves much, but I can tell you it's an extremely important one - and one that his company excels at. In fact, from its humble beginnings in the 90s, it's become one of the major players in this space in the world.

Some years ago, Mark planted the seeds of an idea in my mind. I didn't chase the opportunity at that time, because I wasn't quite receptive to it, but the thought did take root in the recesses of my mind. Some years later, when I needed to challenge myself to take on a new role, the tiny seed of an idea bloomed, and today, it is fully grown. That experience has taught me a lot about the role of mentoring, leadership, and guidance.

Every great idea needs to be planted, solidly and firmly as a foundation for a future of growth. Every great opportunity that might spark a new solution needs a wick that might one day be lit. Every wonderful potential future should be shared so that it can be carefully nurtured to its full potential. Every single concept needs planting so that it might eventually be harvested.
One of the most important things you might ever do with what you do, how you think, and the mindset you carry about with you is to plan that idea as a seed within the minds of others. Our role as innovators and leaders is to challenge people to discard their old reality so that they might discover a new one.

We should inspire people with a goal that involves a better future if only they might find a pathway to get there.

And it was right about that time that I committed myself fully to taking part, determined to build a career in this fascinating new world of technology. Within a year, I was subsumed into the online world, discovering via a modem what happens when global connectivity changes forever. I knew something big was happening, and wanted to be a part of it.

I could see something that others would not yet see for a decade or more.

Do you find yourself in that situation? Seeing trends that others can't see, a future to chase that others dare not chase, a new reality that has yet to move beyond the inconceivable for most other people?

Seeing unique opportunities for tomorrow means becoming a futurist for yourself, your purveyor of a different tomorrow, a unique individual who has a lens that distorts today's reality into something different the next day. It means doubling down on your belief in the opportunities that might unfold tomorrow, rather than chasing those that might exist only within today's limited reality.

Study any great invention, and you discover the people who see things differently - and who were dismissed at the time for the errors in their vision.

Life shouldn't be a series of missed opportunities but a history of achieved possibilities.

The essence of disruptive thinking is developing the ability to decide the presence of imperfect information.

One of the lines I will often use on stage involves the ability to move into markets that do not yet exist with products or services not yet conceived. Steve Jobs didn't launch the iPod or iPhone with perfect information as to what a future market might look like - he just knew the timing was right. Reed Hastings didn't bring Netflix to the world with detailed information on the future of streaming services - in fact, he first had the company go into the physical DVD space. Jeff Bezos didn't launch Amazon with full details as to what the future of the 'everything online' store might look like - he just had a gut feeling that online commerce would be a thing.

So what are you waiting for? Perfect information? Absolute certainty? Minimal risk? A guarantee of success?

That's not how you do things.

You jump in, move forward, get involved, try things out - and make decisions.

Right now, millions of new jobs are being created, companies are being born, and service industries are being built around them. Ten or twenty years from now, we'll all look back and go 'Whoah.'

And there will be many people who will be in a state of regret because they didn't take the opportunity when they should have.
They will be surrounded by those who made a decision, dipped their toes into future waters, and started to move forward, not back.

#Polk_County_Sheriff_Grady_Judd discussed more than 100 #arrests made during an #undercover_operation that in part focused on human trafficking, according to the agency.

Out of all 108 arrests, one person was charged with human trafficking.

According to the sheriff's office, 32-year-old #Tiffany_Nash was arrested for #trafficking another #woman. Deputies say they learned Nash repeatedly threatened violence against the woman, who is an adult if she didn't #prostitute herself.

Deputies say Nash would take all the money the woman got from her prostitution. Nash was arrested and charged with human trafficking, deriving proceeds from prostitution, possession of #cocaine, possession of #methamphetamine and possession of #drug_paraphernalia.

Judd said Wednesday Nash was a #manager of a #KFC in #Orlando.
