Next was "Open Innovation Results" by Henry Chesbrough. While the concept has somewhat fallen out of favor (and this is addressed in the book), open innovation remains a potent organizational tool to drive long term success. There are a wide range of case studies here, and they add to the survey and experimental results that are examined as well. Highly recommend

Sarah O'Connor (FT) poses the interesting Q.: what happens in the professions (and white collar work more widely) when valued (semi) autonomy over workflow & practices is compromised by surveillance & new technologies (such as AI)?

If part of productivity improvement comes from workers, then a reduction in autonomy decreases their ability to innovate more efficient methods... and again contributes to why services have seen weak (or even no) productivity improvements.

Next was "The Innovator's Dilemma" by Clay Christensen. The term "disruptive innovation" is thrown around far too much, and when one returns to Christensen's classic source it becomes clear that the innovations he refers to are those that disrupt business models - they may not actually be that huge of a technological leap. Highly recommend

the #FCC required Verizon to end its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies as a condition for approving its $20 billion merger with Frontier. The FCC explicitly cited #Verizon’s commitment to terminate DEI-related practices as part of its rationale for granting approval. Verizon agreed to remove DEI references from #training, #public materials, hiring, #management compensation, and #supplier diversity, and to dismantle its internal DEI team.

Okay, so I have this concept I'm thinking of implementing as a tech-lead for my team. It will hopefully let me keep a record of team agreements, provide feedback and inform other teams, management (etc) all in one.

Starting with a base of:

  1. Learnings: things the team learned from their work, research and mistakes.
  2. Risks: things the team learned can go wrong, and should prepare for in the future.
  3. Decisions: things the team have agreed on, and should remember for the future.
  4. Kudos: Praise to the team members for actions, effort and cooperation.

That is combined with the sprint summary, then:

  1. Prepared as a (Notion) document.
  2. Shared with the team, to check if they are okay with it as is, or have additions, edits or objections to consider.
  3. Embed in the sprint review presentation for the company's shared review.

Now to overthink this until I start doubting if it's a good idea :neocat_think:
