"The future is an attitude!" - Futurist Jim Carroll

It's Monday morning. What are you waiting for?

With that being the case, why not have an image where I'm staring up into a teleportation portal? It's my future, and I get to imagine it!

You should do the same thing.

If you're feeling too comfortable right now with the future, you probably aren't thinking hard enough about the trends that will reshape your reality. You need to be scared; you need to be nervous; you need to have big ideas; you need to stretch your imagination; you need to be prepared to accept that everything is going to change—and most importantly, you need to be ready for action. After all, there might one day be teleportation portals - not in our life, but sometime!

That's why you need to think about this simple fact - the future isn't just. something you Watch - it's something you embody. The future is an attitude. While everyone else is busy tracking trends and technologies, they're missing something crucial: it's not just about knowing what's coming—it's about how you approach it, internalize it, and act on it.

The most successful people don't just observe the future; they have a mindset that embraces it and takes immediate steps to make it real. Anyone can read about emerging trends, but those who truly thrive in tomorrow's world cultivate specific attitudes that transform challenges into opportunities—and then act on them without hesitation. With that being the case, think about the mindsets that will help you stay ahead.

And most important - do something today - right now - Monday morning - that will get you moving! Here are 10 ideas you should think about right now - and 10 things you should commit to doing THIS MORNING.

Later this morning, Futurist Jim Carroll will have his winter tires swapped out. He’s preparing for a future that involves warmer weather.

Daily Inspiration: "The speed of your decision-making should match the pace of the trends" - Futurist Jim Carroll

People and organizations are far too slow.

They defer decisions until it's too late.

Is that you?

For a long time, I've seen too many clients and those trying to book me suffering from what I call 'aggressive indecision' - an organizational culture in which people simply can't take a step forward into tomorrow through the simple act of deciding what to do. The funny thing is, I first defined this problem way back in 2003l. Since then, even though the world has sped up, aggressive indecision has settled into far too many organizations, slowing them down.

This leads to an acceleration disconnect.

That's why more organizations- at least the ones that recognize they have a decision-making problem, are moving towards the side of 'corporate agility' - recognizing that decision-making is a key competency. Who would have thought?

I would have thought. I've been talking about the issue of indecision for years on stage - and organizations that manage to decide to bring me in, are usually those who ask me to talk about it! I suspect the others know that they are riddled with organizational sclerosis that comes with a slow structure, and so they settle into the warm-blanket excuse of deciding to do nothing. (Is that an actual decision?)

What should you do?

Be relentless on speed! Some time ago, in one of these posts, I suggested organizations should create a position called the "Chief Momentum Officer" to help them keep up with the pace of change. Organizations today need rapid, well-informed decision-making - because adapting to the trends of today that define tomorrow means that tomorrow is going to be here sooner than you think!

Be proactive, make quick decisions, and adjust as you go, rather than waiting and risking being left behind.

After all - the future just doesn't belong to those who are fast.

It belongs to those who can get there fast!

Daily Inspiration: "Be the person who sees the solutions, not the one who only identifies the problems!" - Futurist Jim Carroll

You never read a LinkedIn profile that starts out boasting someone is just a problem-identifier - but you do see people boasting that they are a problem-solver! You never see a resume that lists a key skill as problem identification without solution generation. You'll never find someone proud of the fact that they spend their time whining about all the problems they've found, rather than speaking about the solutions they've identified.

Solve problems, don't stop at just finding them!

How can you do this if it doesn't come naturally to you? It involves your mindset, habits, and skills.

Start by sharing your perspective - it's all about opportunities, not barriers. Be proactive instead of reactive - so that you are always trying to move forward, not back. Changing your tone helps - replace “we can’t” with “how can we?” Stop being the victim - don't say “Why is this happening to me?" but rather "What should we do about it?"

And spend more time thinking about trends, not barriers. All of the individuals I have met who have an innovative mindset seem to have a better understanding of where we are going tomorrow than those who do not. They spend time thinking about and studying the things that will matter tomorrow, rather than obsessing over the things that are getting in the way today.

Confidence matters too - confidence in yourself, your team, and your ability to smash through the barriers that might get in your way. With that comes the necessity for perseverance - don't give up so easily!

What's the difference? I asked ChatGPT to write two different LinkedIn profiles. Check the post out - spot the difference!

' #Schools play a number of local roles in their #community when there is a #climate #hazard ,” he said. “Kitchens are used for food prep and food distribution centers. When families or households are #displaced they may sleep in the schools or gymnasium.” #FirstResponders will often stage at schools as well, because they can accommodate fire trucks and ambulances, he added.
