good feedback! i think #furiphone has support for #android apps (#waydroid iirc?) and back in the day so did #jolla / #sailfish - i think you can get those on a #sony these days
also i've run android-x86 in vm and its alright but idk what those apps are gonna try. supposedly only finance apps are allowed by google to check for a rooted phone but ... who knows https://peabee.substack.com/p/everyone-knows-what-apps-you-use

The recent Support Days were a success. #Jolla also saw strong interest in #Mind2 after #Slush.
Repairs for Jolla C2 are progressing, though customs delays have caused some issues. Jolla thanks for the patience.
A new Community Coordination team will launch in January. Further, a second batch of C2 devices will be available shortly. Also: Sony released new binary blobs for Xperia 10 IV and 10 V.

@whitequark I'm using the alternative smartphone OS called #sailfishos since.. uhmm... 2013 where #Jolla (the company behind that OS) introduced their first phone. I've never used any other mobile OS even if it's not perfect and has not all the fancy bells & whistles the duopoly has but f*** who cares? I want a phone, a browser and a Linux-based OS with root shell. I'm happy with that because it protects my privacy instead of spying on me.

@caoimhin @darth I explicitly disagree on that specific point because if #Jolla really wanted to be better then they'd at least have to provide absolute basics EVERY SINGLE #Android device I've ever seen has!
- Okay, not every device, but a Mil-Spec'd phone - designed to be used in explosive atmosphere, being thrown int pressurized tank filled with solvent and survive a prison riot after that ( from a spechalist manufacturer who mostly caters to industrial plants, hospitals and corretional facilities and doesn't sell these devices to consumers evern if you go "#ShutUpAndTakeMyMoney!" on them ) isn't a fair comparison, but you should get the point!
#RightToRepair means that the #vendor doesn't actively inhibit #repairs or #paywalls them.
- I can understand if Jolla doesn't service said devices anymore, but then they should relinquish the tools so legitimate owners can at least use their paid - for devices.
I mean, if I wanted to be downgraded into a "#User & #Consumer without #Rights" I'd buy an #iPhone or #Kindle "#Kids" device...

@darth There's a simple fix for #SailfishOS & #JollaPhone:
- * #Jolla * has to make the #firmware and necessary #tools available to the #public at no extra cost.
After all, #Fairphone can do that too, and they provide a way better product with the #Fairphone3plus [abeit they #Enshittified #Fairphone4 & #Fairphone5 by removing #HealdphoneJack and real #DualSIM capabilities! (#eSIM doesn't count!)]....
