The magnetic clasp on a friend's bag fell off, so they asked if I could repair it. A new clasp was bought, but to install it required access to the lining, I undid a row of stitching, then had to redo the stitches by hand. Used a simple saddle stitch. It's not the prettiest sewing I've ever done but it works. And the bag can now be easily closed again.

Took less than an hour.

🌍 Commons, Not Conglomerates
Taxation can guide, not punish. Steuern steuern.

🏢 Proprietary IP → high tax
🧩 Permissive FLOSS → moderate tax
🔄 Copyleft/commons → near-zero tax + public support

And when you share while alive, society buys your freedom — castles, cars, and all.

This is the give economy.
Not charity. Incentivized solidarity.

Double Trouble for #Repair Monopolies: Washington Passes Two #RightToRepair Bills - #iFixit

Today, a quarter of Americans are covered by electronics Right to Repair

"We’re running out of high-fives over here.

"#WashingtonState just became the sixth state in the country to pass Right to Repair for electronics and the third to guarantee repair access for powered wheelchairs. Governor Bob Ferguson signed two bills into law today: #HB1483, covering consumer electronics and appliances, and #SB5680, covering mobility devices like powered wheelchairs and scooters. That’s a one-two punch for repair access and another major victory for fixers everywhere.

"Right to Repair is officially on a roll: With Washington now joining #NewYork, #California, #Minnesota, #Oregon, and #Colorado, about a quarter of all Americans (over 82 million people) live in states with electronics Right to Repair protections. That’s a huge share of the population who can now access parts, tools, and repair documentation for their devices. And it shows that the repair movement isn’t niche anymore. It’s national."

Soldered new switches in into my good old Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum, as the old ones started showing wear. I picked some slightly heavier ones than the stock switches were (Kailh GM 8.0), thinking "well how heavy can some mouse microswitches be lmao".

Well very heavy. Need to retrain my muscle memory to do double clicks properly. "lmao"

Also I sorta broke the turbo-scroll mechanism of this mouse while fixing the switches. Bummer.

Tariff Exemptions Are Terrible News for Electronics Repairability - #iFixit

"Apple succeeded in negotiating a tariff exemption for consumer electronics. Did you know that exemption doesn’t cover spare parts?"

Succinct words on tariffs, old electronic devices & the Right to Repair. Well worth your time.
