The #sunrise was on fire this morning.
Hopefully this means we finally get rain today.
Magical mornings on the #EasternShore make it very hard to venture into #dc
The peace and quiet is heavenly.

Former #Skiff users: We are already more than halfway through June (happy #juneteenth). The deadline for migrating your Skiff data is quickly approaching - 9 AUG 2024.
After 9 AUG, you will not have access to your Skiff data. If you haven't exported what you need yet, you should get on it now.
Shipping Creek looking lovely this #evening. And a #heron stealing a #skiff Other than that… pretty quiet on the #easternshore tonight
For info, the Eala Bhàn is one of these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Ayles_Skiff #Mull #Rowing #Skiff
REMINDER: #Skiff users, don’t forget to migrate your email/files/calendars. It has already been over a month since Skiff announced they are sunsetting their services (after being acquired by Notion).
Services will go dark on 1 AUG 2024 (previously, there was no date.)
While Skiff has mentioned forwarding services will continue until 1 FEB 2025, there’s no guarantee after the services actually shut down.
It’s easier to migrate now when you still have a decent amount of runway left, versus postponing until closer to the shutdown date.
@dhry They are not a typical email service. @protonmail can’t read your mail even if they wanted to, even while stored on their servers. The bridge app encrypts and decrypts messages for your IMAP client.
As for their free account limits: outfits like #Skiff have tried and failed to give away more while remaining solvent.
If #ProtonMail can’t meet your needs with your zero budget, take a closer look at what you need and what it’s worth to you.
There need to be portability laws for email addresses. You know how cell phone companies are legally required to transfer your phone number if you ask? That, but for email. I'd have a _much_ worse time losing my email address than my phone number.
“...We will charge a fair price that reflects our costs and can deliver long-term stability.”
Or paraphrasing myself: “#ProtonMail is stable because it doesn't give freeloaders everything.” https://social.sdf.org/@mjgardner/111907965739904929

• #SkiffCalendar → #ProtonCalendar
I’ve pulled recommendations of Skiff from Avoidthehack as Skiff is no longer a viable privacy-friendly option.
A lot of people used #Skiff for their encrypted #email service - if you are looking for similar alternatives: https://avoidthehack.com/best-email-services
(Pending adding Posteo as of writing… UPDATE: looking deeper, no longer a viable add either.)

I'm gonna use my own domain for email from now.
Looks like #Notion, the hot note-taking outfit that charges for significant use, has acqui-hired #Skiff, the private #email service that gave most of it away for #free: https://www.notion.so/blog/meet-skiff-the-newest-member-of-the-notion-family

Dear freeloaders who keep whining that #ProtonMail doesn’t give you everything: This is what happens when a service does exactly that.
