The public beaches are packed with people but we had our little neighborhood beach to ourselves. It’s very hot out and as wonderful as the breeze felt….. I’m really happy to be home and to have air conditioning.

They rarely sit still long enough to get a decent shot. #barnswallow perched on the fence at my neighbors cattle farm this morning. Kept letting me inch a little closer. They are so pretty.

Watched this #snowyegret searching for a meal along the rocks. Didn’t take him long to find a small snake or eel-and he quickly made his way to land to devour this tasty morsel! Love his yellow feet 
Great Blue Herons look prehistoric, the baby’s are an ugly-sort-of cute….love their mohawks. They stand almost 3 to 4 feet tall and have a wingspan of 5 to 6 feet. Despite their size they weigh only 4 to 6 pounds. The feathers on their chest are special. They continually grow and fray. The herons comb this down with a fringed claw on their middle toes, using the down like a washcloth to remove fish slime and other oils from their feathers as they preen. They usually build their nests on trees, in colonies. This family happens to be on a duck blind which makes photo opportunities aaaaamazing!

I had never seen a #nightheron until I moved to the #easternshore. Probably because they are most active at twilight Interesting fact…..during breeding season, they develop long white head plumes and their legs turn pink.

Feels cool. The first time a winter's worth of trees have stayed out overnight. Well, in the unheated greenhouse.. I've seen peach trees wilt in there.
I have to start making the best of the mornings, there's something to do every day now.
