They are not cheap, and they shouldn't be: they are serious quality and should last for ever. But, these silk scarves, throws and kaftans by a young Irish designer are stunning. I bought one as a gift, it went down a treat!

This week I'll be cutting out a dress and jacket, co-designed with the Mom of Groom, using the #satin #jacquard from her mother's #wedding dress and some lilac #silk her son - the groom - brought her years ago from a trip to Thailand.
So, #upcycling at it's best, reusing every morsel of this lovely ivory - and she's going to dye it to complement the lilac! And while it travelled the world, at this stage, it's become #deadstock as it is at least 5 years waiting to be made into something...
I'm cutting the pieces and handing them off to her to dye, then I'll get them back to begin the assembly...

Two are #upcycles - the blue jacket was formerly a strapless bridesmaid dress!
The green beaded silk dress was revamped from a #vintage piece.
The burgundy silk jacket with gold collar is actually completely reversible
The white silk jacket with purple velvet skirt were my wedding outfit from 1998, with both top and skirt made from remnants.
And here is the final prototype, completed and quilted today. Many lessons learned from each prototype, and many notes for improving the final products for the project.

This was yesterday's completed prototype. I'd never made a Dresden Plate before, so this was challenging on 2 fronts.
The plate is from thrifted silk neckties. The background and binding are cotton fabrics from my stash. The overall size is about 21" square(-ish) (53 cm), and the Plate is about 15" (38 cm) across.

Yesterday, I took this photo of a diamondback moth pupa. Apparently it spins the flimsiest fishnet of a cocoon, which I can't imagine is all that protective.
