Y'all wanna see some more #MechanicalEngineering brainworms?
#CAD #GamingPC #Desktop #PC #3DPrinting
I have a dead #AIO cooler. Tragic.
But it had cool ass lights, and I figure those still work. So I disassembled the AIO, salvaged the LED PCB, and went to work designing a custom enclosure for it.
I handled it too roughly and the LED wires came off.
Did I ever mention how much I dislike soldering?
30 min later I had the wires back on.
Designing both halves of the enclosure took a combined 4 hours due to revisions, and my slowass 3D printer made every attempt an endeavor, but I finally got a near perfect solution.
All this cause I want an easy LED module as a memento of my first ever AIO.

So it looks like spring loaded doors are prohibited in #mailboxes, but the door of a #microwave isn't spring loaded. The latch is.
More troublesome is "The carrier service door must operate freely and solely by pulling outward and downward
with a convenient handle or knob."
Aside from that i think could likely make it work (capacity, safety, inner/outer dimensions, weatherproof, security)
Rather than work that hard to modify a microwave though i figure I'll keep our existing mailbox as is. Still planning on safely disassembling our failing microwave and mounting it in the front yard. Maybe as a "free library" or something.
In related news, I'm annoyed that i legit read through the entire USPS-STD-7C standard for United States Postal Service Residential mailboxes. #USPS #Mail? What's wrong with me.
#MechanicalEngineering really is brain worms.
Falling asleep to the gentle #ASMR of my #3DPrinter production a part that almost will almost certainly be a few mm off and require another revision.
Break out the calipers, boys.
Measure once, #CAD twice, print three times
Is it wrong to look at that picture and immediately think that it's definitely going to need a tensioner?

What job-hunting advice can you share with my 37-year old daughter?
She’s been with the same employer for 10 years, out of practice when writing a resume or interviewing. She’s a #ProjectManager for #NASA, a commissioned painter and photographer, getting her #PMP. She has a BS in #MechanicalEngineering, is a new #WorkingMom, just gave birth, just moved and is unwilling to relocate again soon so needs #RemoteWork. #UniversityOfLouisville

#introduction Hello! I am the editor in chief of #Solar Today. I also report on #physics, #engineering, and #appliedmath for Popular Mechanics. I'm a double graduate of the UW-Madison - I have a B.S. in #mechanicalengineering and have an M.S. in science and environmental #journalism from the Nelson Institute. In my free time, I am an avid reader of books and news, am into #dance and functional fitness, and participate in the local alternative #music scene.

Hello, I'm Karen and my background is #mechanicalengineering. I have a day job career in #projectmanagement for the design, installation and startup of food and beverage #manufacturing #packaging and #processing equipment for large #CPG companies. It has held my attention for the past 25 years, (#GenX) and, though stressful at times, I do enjoy it.
I am also a #maker. I founded a #nonprofit, incidentally called #IAmAMaker or AKA [ I am a Maker ]. I feel strongly that everybody has the capacity to make, whether it is food, photography, electronics, software, fiber arts, artisan crafts, wood or metal working, writing, really anything.
Creating something from nothing is what we do as humans and I encourage others to exercise their mind in the process of creation.
My primary mode of #making is #sewing. However, I also #crochet, and experiment with concrete for making #candles and other home goods. I make items to sell to fund the nonprofit activities that include community service projects, a #combatrobot event, #hebocon, #DenverAreaFactoryTours and monthly free activities that bring the local community together from the surrounding areas of #Longmont #Boulder and #Niwot in #Colorado.
The reason I started the nonprofit was to encourage people to take control of their own creativity and own it, no matter what it is they make. My hope is that others will give themselves the permission to start something new, try a new hobby and share with one another.
