The project management tool Height.app is shutting down, which is a real bummer - our company was one of the early adopters and we have used it for years. Height had one of the best designs I've ever seen, and I had high hopes for it.

This is a reminder that any service can be shut down at any moment, with no safeguards in place. It's also a reminder of the power of open source - something we don't have in this case.

I have a lot of requirements for a project management tool - most notably a solid API, linkable tasks with task IDs, and a good user interface. After this experience, I'd prefer something open source. Maybe Plane.so, looks very similar to Height.app?

Any solid alternatives to tools like Jira, ClickUp, Height, or Favro? I'm open to suggestions.

🏛️ Agile in public administration? – Yes, that's possible!

Sometimes, rigid structures make agility seem impossible for public institutions, but hybrid project management makes it easier to get started. Boards, dailys & retrospectives can help bring flexibility while keeping structure.

🚀 Exciting news!

OpenProject will introduce a new automatic scheduling mode with two distinct scheduling modes:
🔵 Manual mode, that remains unaffected by relations.
🔵 Automatic mode with dynamically adjusted start dates and manually adjustable duration.

(I've been considering to join Bluesky, but I don't know much about it outside the news about new features, will look into it when I'll have more time)

YouTube going desperate and cracking down on alt frontends took another victim, since Thursday evening (or afternoon?) FreeTube can't play any videos (live stream playback still works):

(Devs said they are working on a fix, hopefully it will work. It would be really sad to see the most feature-rich YouTube client die off...)

Do you know the #OpenProject #GitLab integration yet?

:fosstodon: "GitLab and OpenProject are both open source, which makes them a very attractive combination. One provides the features that the other doesn’t have. It's a classic 1 + 1 = 3 situation."
– Wieland Lindenthal, OpenProject co-founder

This integration started as a plugin from the Community, for the Community. 🌱
